I thought I'd share some pics 'n' stuff with you. This is my track, it's about 18 metres, scaley sport track. I've changed it around a few times, but I like this one. The track is up in my loft, so space is a bit limited, which is why I had to go for a U-shape. Elevation drops about a foot from the hairpin on the left to the pitlane.

I'm working on some scenery at the mo'. Not in the same league as some SF members, but I'm having fun!!

I was just about to reply that a couple of Scaley corner crossovers would complete the circuit. One in the chicane and one at the bottom right corner...

Then I check out your website, and it's exactly where you put them!!!

Wierd... but you know what they say about "Good minds... "

Sweet setup Rob

Thanks for the positive comments guys.

QUOTE Why should u replace the home made pitlane by a Carrera one? I think home made stuff makes your track more attractive!!!

Gunther, your home made stuff makes the track more attractive. Mine however...

I'll post some more pics when I've done a bit more.

QUOTE Can you tell me more about what prepping of the loft space you had to do?

I didn't have to do a lot. The loft was insulated to the depth of the rafters so I floored over the top of it. Electricity for power sockets and lights (2 fluorescent tubes and four spots over the track). That was about it really.

The track 'table' supports are attached to the bracing beams, and I've fitted legs as well. Table top is 9mm MDF.

Hope this helps

Rob

PS It helped that I usurped the attic for my own use before we filled it with junk!

Thanks Taxi. Have you covered the whole loft in boards?

My main concern is the insulation. Ours is the nasty fibre stuff (fortunately not glass fibre but still pretty 'orrible stuff!) and I'm worried once the boards are down the fibres will still be in the air.

Look forward to more scenery pics mate. I'm on a search for as many ideas as possible for when I get round to making a start on scenery.

Yep, the whole loft is floored. It was dusty for a while, a combination of saw dust and possibly insulation fibre, I guess.

There was a delay of probably a month or more between getting the flooring done and starting on the track. I cleaned (mopped!) the floor then, and it doesn't seem to get dusty up there any more (I saw wood elsewhere now).

Nice work Rob. The pit row looks great. Just one suggestion though - It looks as if there is no place for the cars to exit back onto the track. Looks like a fun course to drive.
Keep the pix coming.

Thanks Steve. The pit lane exit is shown in the pics (with the long row of tyre walls). The pitlane entry is still a complete mess! But I'm hoping to do some more work on it today and/or tomorrow, and I'll post some more pics then.

Cheers

I got some more done on the track today, so as promised there's more pics here.

It seems to be taking ages, but it feels like it's starting to take shape now. Back to B&Q tomorrow for more ceiling tiles and insulation tape! Oh, and a corrector roller for the pitlane lines and some more scatter and...

Nicely done website Rob. I like the way you link to the reviews from the cars photos in the gallery. The track looks great. So does that new Carrera Ferrari 575. Man, I can't wait to get one of those in my paddock.

I've been doing some more 'work' on the track recently, and I've posted some more pics here.

Although there's still a lot to do, I feel like it's really coming together. I feel like I'm learning all the time and I'm quite pleased with it so far - actually I'm chuffed to bits with it!!

I know it's not up to the (incredible) standards set by some of the others here, but I console myself with the fact I'm still relatively young and can learn!!
