Name That Rear Bumper!?

This should be fun...

Going through my old spare parts, I came across 2 vintage bumpers.

The first (front bumper / grill) I was able to identify by searching through my copy of "The Complete Color Guide To Aurora H.O. Slot Cars". It belongs to an Aurora AFX Ford Escort. I don't recall ever owning this car, so it had to come from some other parts stuff I acquired, or maybe a friend's car back in the day?

The second (rear bumper) I didn't have any luck identifying. None of my old cars are missing any, and the above book wasn't any help since there aren't any rear views of the cars. It's got to be older Aurora AFX or Tyco. Here are some pictures. Let's see who knows their bumpers!

I forgot to ask. Do I win a "Pine-float"? (glass of water and a toothpick) :p

Ya beat me to it. A '69 GTO bumper to be exact.
Awesome! Nice detective work. So it's an early '70s Aurora Thunderjet model then. Never owned that car either. Guess I need to look for a body (sans rear bumper) on ebay now. ;-)

And Ken.. yes, you can have a pine float. Just walk over to your kitchen and I'm sure you have the necessary supplies to make that happen.
Thank you kindly, Nurmix. I had a pine-float yesterday after that box of Oreos.

Jag Hobbies has shiny new 1969 GTO bodies in five different colours from $12 to $15.

Keep the bumper in case you lose a bumper from the new body you're about to buy in the colour of your choosing.

My question is why would anyone model a convertible? The whole deal behind that design was the "C" pillar integrated into the fender, which is of course lost on the convertible.

But A) I digress, and B) to each their own.

Jay,

I understand your point. Ragtops for warm, sunny days.

Just for the record. I'll take several of everything, thanks. (y)

Fixed that for ya... The new body I just bought.. Green in this case. I don't have any other green cars.
Gosh, I didn't even know it was broken. Show us some pics please?

Heh! No, I didn’t mean the bumper was broken. I was referring to what you said; “…the new body you’re about to buy…”, because when I replied to your post I had just bought a GTO body, so I crossed out that line when I quoted you.
;-)

Thanks for suggesting Jag Hobbies. They have a lot of great, reasonably priced stuff on their site.
