Hi all.

If you follow this link to Auslot Forum there are pics of the new Aussie V8's.

These cars are produced for the Australian Market and built to a price hence no windows and interiors, just like the last 4 cars released. They did seem to sell well and were exported to the US and privately to other parts of the globe. I guess if they sold well, Scalex might consider more detail in future releases.

That's a cryingn shame they can't do the interiors because the shells of these cars look very good.

Ride height does look high and I can't get too excited about race cars that look too close to road going versions (sad old BTCC looks like a load of Rice Boys on a track day to me) but a full interior version of the Lowndes car just might have tempted me.

Oz slotters will surely snap these up regardless of the mentioned faults.

Don't the Japanese deserve some of their home series cars too?

They look great, I have always been a fan of the V8SC series.

And Wankel, I aggree, there should be some JGTC cars.

Hi. I don't necessarily see the lack of an interior as a "fault". These cars are very light and quick, take heaps of abuse and are almost indestructable. More detail might be a trade off for speed or robustness but an interior and glass would probably make them more appealing to a broader market.

As for ride height, they are easily lowered to give a more aggressive stance (shave the posts and pump the guards out a tad).

Oddly enough, when my kids and their friends gain entry to my shed, the V8's are the first cars they go for. Which is fine by me.

Like the Spanish guys with the racing Seat in another thread, manufacturers will only build to a price where there is a demand to justify it. The market in Oz is relatively small, so if there was a greater interest from other parts of the world, cars like these might become offical Scaley releases and not local market job lots. Then we'd get the full interior.

Personally, I'm very happy that the Scalex Australia people were/are prepared to put it on the line and bring us cars that we can see racing in 1:1. A big thumbs up

for them.

Maybe the Japanese Scalex importers could do a business case to get some JGTC cars built.

As a "Yank" on this forum, I thought the first 2 releases were nice, but wasn't motivated to buy them even with the glowing reviews.

However, seeing the Castrol & Cat liveries...gotta have the pair...great artwork!!! It would've been a threesome, except the Havoline/Caltex (Texaco) star just doesn't look as good against a green background compared to the usual (in the USA) black.

No "interior"...no big deal...really can't see the interior when they're running on the track anyhow...and that's what they're made for!

Again we see the division between lovers of interior detail, much of which will never be seen, and the racers, who only want the car to look right on the outside.

Is there a market for providing the clear glass and detailed interior as an add on extra, I wonder? It makes sense in some respects and might be worth the experiment to see if the detail enthusiasts really do want to pay more for what the racers think of as wasted weight (in the wrong place) and the money it costs.

I think the guy who organizes the Hornby stuff out here has a pretty good grip on things here after almost 40 years. and there has been some changes fairly recently at 1:1 HRT has there not.

Fingers crossed for the other Commodore..
(I think its a long shot though and must certainly be in the same basket as the Moffat Mustang. Still, good on them for having a go)

Ah ...

Tropi, there is no possibility to add a clear glass and a detailed interior since the windows are simply black painted. They aren't black plastic.

I have the first four available liveries and the price isn't much cheaper than other editions.

I like those touring cars very much though I really regret the missing details. I have to admit that they still look great nevertheless.

Had they been fully detailed, I think I would have bought much more of them, given all the decals done by Patto.

Here is some pics of my V8 supercar that I race in open tourers race at WILMOT RACEWAY.

This car has a SLOT IT HRS chassis with slot it alloy wheels & magnetic suspension, ninco NC5 MOTOR, slot it tyres p2. This car is non magnet , it just has weight add to the front of the car as seen in the pics.

With HO cars I used to cut out the windows. I'm not sure but I think cutting out windows would be easier on a 1/32nd scale car

If I get any of these cars I won't bother with interiors anyway. No matter how hard I try I can't see inside the car when it's at speed anyway so what's the point?

Because you want the turn marshals to be so impressed by the detail of your car that the respect they have for you motivates them to return your car to the slot as soon as possible.

It's like the magnet/non-magnet debate in many ways. There are those who want the detail and accuracy, and those who think it is superfluous. For me, I enjoy my cars both on and off the track, so detail matters. I have a hard time building a car, even just for racing, that doesn't look good to me even when sitting still. The modeler in me absolutely despises painted windows.

Doesn't make me right, mind you, just pointing out that there are many viewpoints in this hobby.

Just like to say that it's great to have similar performing cars from an entire series.

Love it. Everyone can buy a different one and no-one has to paint their shells!

Why don't they do that with DTM, BTCC, WRC and erm.... F1!
