With the increase in popularity of slot cars now, will the makers introduce cars such as, Ford KA (KA rally championships) Ford Puma (JWRC) etc, plus cars from the 70's & 80's such as Vauxhall Chevette, Opel Manta Mk1, Nissan 240RS, Opel Ascona, Vauxhall Astra, Mazda 323 etc etc.

ditto MecoProp!

Any new models should be Classic British sportscars!

When will we get a good MGA, MGB, MK2 Jag, Triumph TR6, Ford Escort, etc, etc.

Well if they can't get a Mabuchi in an Elise and keep to 1:32 you ain't got no chance of your Puma or Ka.

The Chevette and Asconas might find a market. You should pester this guy to do one.

A good topic, RS 1600, but I just moved it onto the Cars Board where it is probably more appropriate.

That's a really nice link, Wankel.

I could be tempted for nostalgia's sake, as my first 'decent' car was a 1961 Triumph Herald. It's not so decent predecessors were a 1949 Austin A70 followed by a 1953 Mark 1 Consul. But I couldn't possibly race them and I am trying very hard not to buy anything that isn't to race. Really, die casts ARE better value for the pretty-pretty stakes.

I'm not sure I can believe that it's actually impossible to get a Mabuchi into a 1/32 Elise. I think someone is not trying very hard or there is some other totally silly reason like there wouldn't be enough room for a full interior with space for a typical poseur to wave his medallion around in appropriate fashion.

RS1600, your ID is a car that a lot of people will remember well..

Why ask for run of the mill Vauxhalls? I can see the Puma and the Ka's being appropriate, but a chevette? what the f***?

the problem with an elise is it's hieght, so it wouldn;t be too bad to do a ka or puma. My missus has a 1/33 model smart, and a mabuchi'll fit in that (just. It's on my long list of projects...). if you can fit it in there, a ka is a maybach in comparison.

RS 1600

I would love to see a decent Manta (in andrws heat for hire or rothmans livery)

I would also like to see a track day set released it could have an elise and VX 220 in it. As for the problem fitting motor's into the Elise (i'm sure i've seen resin elise's out there

While on the fantasy car list i'd buy a replica of a Lancia Stratos. I would also like to see the escort mexico reintroduced.

As a promotional tool I strongly believe car manufacturers should offer to fund the production of new current shape slot cars for free.

Little "UK Johnny" probably has more say in the choice of a new car than either his mother or his father.

If a slot car is pants on the track then "UK Johnny" will say to dad that it is uncool. This will encourage the production of cool slot cars.

Dad only wants to be seen in a cool 1:1 car.

Shall we start a petition?

Amazingly, I agree with Moped's first statement. Trying to scrape a measly few quid out of slot manufacturers for 'licence' fees is totally non-constructive. It would be far better, for the promotional value, to assist the model manufacturers in producing the best model possible.

However, as for words like 'cool', sorry but it's a meaningless expression.

Around 5 years ago I was in a bar in Andorra and there was a poster advertising ice racing with a picture of a Puma on steroids ( or could it have been a Tigra?) like the one above. The interesting thing was that one of the main sponsors on the car was Fly Car Model. Putting 2 & 2 together (and making 5) I assumed that we perhaps may see something like it in the future from Fly. But, as I say, that was 5 years ago and given Fly policy of announcing cars 2 or 3 years in advance there is probably little chance of it happening

I would rush out and buy a slot puma, ka and or cougar if they were available, in racing livery and/or street versions

i've already placed my wants on this thread, But last night i was flicking through an old issue of EVO magazine (issue 38) in which they do a history of Lamborghini, Starting with the Miura. This is not the first car Lambo made but is the car that changed the design of the supercar forever and not only that it is in my not so humble oppinion the best looking car ever produced
. Basically i would love to see a 1/32 slot car of a lambo Miura SV in yellow or orange please. I am sure there would be a market for this car. Come on Scalextric, FLY, etal make my slot fantasy a reality. I'm sure i'm not the only one out there in slot land who would love to own a slot replica of this superb, historic and sexy car. Please add to this thread maybe we can influence the manufacturers

A Puma WRC (Racing Puma with 1600 engine) would be on my list, just remember to put it together better than the real thing. (Disgruntled ex-Puma owner here). Maybe you could spray a femtometre of soft silver paint onto black plastic with no primer in the interests of realism?

Also on my list

Tom's Toyota Supra - castrol livery
Toyota MR-S - the Gran Turismo 3 version
Pennzoil Skyline (OK, bit of a GT3 influence showing in these three choices)
Scalextric MG Lola but in Hot Wheels livery!
Lancia Stratos (is this already available?)
BTCC MG ZR

Had you asked me a couple of years back I would have said a GT-40 and a Chevron B19!

The Miura is surely one for the exponents of the street car, Proteus or AutoFart.
