I Should be back racing this friday, Just been reading some of the blogs, blimey you lot have been busy discussing classes.

Am happy to race anything with wheels, although would like to keep open gt and slot it mainly because I have good cars, other than that not bothered what we race.

See you all friday

PS Syd can you bring my race cars along, thanks!!

A way to breathe more life into JGTC would be to allow the use of different motors, gears & wheels. That way we could actually tweak them a bit. Rather than running around in dog slow NC5 car's with magnets slowing them down! Which I feel makes them very very boring

I would also like to run Ninco Ferrari 360's / Ninco 997 etc as they do race these in the real Super GT. I have two Ninco 360's sitting at home doing nothing. This is the website for Super GT that JGTC is based on: http://supergt.net/en/

The option of JGTC Heat 1 & Ninco Rally Heat 2 for JGTC is a nice idea.

I think you could be right Rob, Allow free choice of running gear & tyres as we do with Ford GT. Not too sure about swaping motors, I think an NC5 car minus magnet would be good enough around our track (remember we can up the voltage). I think we'd have difficulty explaining to any new members that they need to buy a car for £40 throw everything away apart from the chassis/shell and spend another £40 replacing it.
Agree the class should be opened up to more cars.

Following on from Robs suggestion to change the JGTC to an open class I modified my Lexus to suit, just for initial testing. This car was run by most members on friday and appears to have been well recieved. Below is the changes I made followed by my proposal for class rules.

Slot it rear tyres - P6's
NSR 6704 gear set for Ninco.
NSR 3012 motor - 21,400rpm @ 12v ( I used this as I do not have a good NC5 and I like the smooth power delivery of the King motor )
No magnet
Front axle position raised.
Prorace sprung guide.
Low profile zero grip front tyres.
Motor glued to chassis, rear axle bearings bonded to axle mounts & the mounts bridged to the motor with hot melt to retain a constant running gear mesh.

Proposed JGTC rules.
A/ Existing rules apply for running with magnet.

B/ No magnet.
Tyres: free area
Gears: free area but must retain the ratio of 12/32.
Chassis: must retain original chassis, but may carry small 'adjustments'.
Motors: maximum 21,500 rpm @12v, motors with 'magnetic downforce' NOT allowed.

If any member wanting to enter the non magnet class and is unable to prepare their car I am willing carry this out for just the cost of parts. (one per member only)

Now over to you guys for comments.......

Nice idea with split JGTC, but I don't think you would get a full blown JGTC non-magnet to be competitive against the mag ones. We did get down to sub 6.5 seconds with magnets...

Lap speed isn't everything yes it will be slower but have a chance possibly to make the racing more even, have checked out the prices on parts not all that bad especially nsr cheaper than ninco, slot it stuff is reasonable, not sure how much pro race wheels are haven't checked. I know you say your chucking effectively the cost of a car at a car, but after driving syd's it was amazing, I know some members will say there is no spares for those cars - yes ninco doesn't make them anymore, make mainly rally and the R8 and the odd other. But a lot of us have spare jpgt cars. I'm open to the car syd has made it's a pleasure to drive, be interesting to see what others think, we may have to steer clear of magnets it's not helping the braid at all

Ash you do not need to use prorace wheels, I just took them off an Astra with the tyres already on for ease of preping a car to test. But the bling does suit the Lexus.

Colin: Robs idea was to rejuvenate the class, not start a mag verses non mag situation.

I have just done the same mods to a Gallardo and it also goes well. Tried it with an NC5 first, but much prefer the NSR motor for drivability. So swapped the NC5 for NSR King motor and its a pleasure to drive. Slot it Boxer would probably perform quite well in this set up.

Ash
You do not need to spend money on wheels & axles unless they are knackered.
The 3 key areas are:
Tyres, ensuring they are glued and trued
Replacing the gears & ensuring the gear mess is good and the running tolerance is consistent when running.
Chassis prep & set up.

Was looking at it thought it was a good deal, I assume there wheels are better as ninco's tend to buckle. But see your point just the axel kit and motor needed then the rest is really up to set up can transform the car for less than £25. Could well be a great class again if agreed by all

Syd's Lexus was great.

This will make JGTC fun again. Its time to bin the magnets as Ashley says its killing the braid and the fun factor.

Surely you could use slot it anglewinder gears as well as they are nice and smooth too. So the only expense really is a new motor (if you want one) and some gears. £17 odd.

I think i will do this to my supra and run it in the next JGTC race (if its not cleared by then, then i will happily race for 0 points. Just so i can enjoy the racing).

If people don't want to spend the money then they can just race their normal JGTC cars without the magnet.

Syd could you give me the link to the NSR axle/gear kit for the Ninco cars?
