New club track opening.......

Tony at Bolwextric has asked me to give details of the launch of his new commercial/club raceway at Clanfield, Hampshire, England.

This Friday(7/11/03) will be a free open-to-all evening to show off the fantastic 6-lane 130ft MDF/ copper tape track he has been building over the past few months.

Clanfield is just off the A3, between Petersfield and Portsmouth.

The track is landscaped and will include a railway layout intertwined.

He is currently working on a Slotstox oval and a single lane rally "stage" to compliment the main track but they will not be up and running just yet. There will eventually be a small shop and refreshments available as well. The shop will stock slot and R/C cars and spares. He is also currently setting up an outdoor R/C track in the locality.

Anybody interested in coming to have a look send me an e-mail or pm and I'll give you directions. I had a sneak preview today and it certainly looks a great circuit.

The track will be available for corporate events/ birthday parties but Tony is keen to keep Friday nights clear for an organised club evening.

Shame the SlotForum tour doesn't kick off until Saturday, Swiss and Nuro!

Cheers Mr.M

Ahhh! You're a Tongham racer, Mk2!

Tony races at the Horndean track, SAA is it, and is a motor bike nut, trials and track days. As well as owning his own shopfitting concern. I don't know how he finds the time or energy.

I will try to get some pics for you, Swiss, but I don't think Tony is the "sit down and write about it" type.

Back to the champions league!

Cheers, Mr.M
I'll do a better report when Tony has had more chance to make the place look more like a finished article. He admitted that he used us all as (willing) guinea pigs to see how the track would fair under race conditions. The surface was great, I raced cars that I would normally expect to tramp (Ninco Saxos) or de-slot (Hornby Mustangs) and they were fine. This could be down to the variable power supplies also. There were some electronic glitches, but nothing that shouldn't be easy to fix. The Vanquish MGs and SCX F1s were absolutely awesome.

Cheers, Mr.M
