Around November i was browsing the net looking for something to buy for the kids for Xmas and stumbled across a scalextric set, not sure which one it was but little did i know it was going to turn in to some sort of obsession for myself.
So after weeks of looking for a good set i went all out and bought the Scalextric Digital Platinum set. Once it arrived and i had a look at the size of the box my excitement just rose and i couldn't wait till the big day.On Xmas day the kids opened it up and couldn't wait to get it set up so i opened up the box and began setting it up, starting in the dinning room and ending up in the kitchen
(i didn't quite realise how big this was going to be
.
Anyway it was set up throughout Xmas day but was just way to big to leave up for any length of time so it was packed back into the box and put in the cupboard.
So after a few days i got to thinking about the unused loft space and began to floor it out, this is the result (that is if the pictures upload)

There has been a little more progress done since those pics were taken and managed to get a layout put down last night. It won't be the final layout as i still need to add a pit lane once the funds become available and i have also set up an old PC as i plan to use SSDC once i get my head around what i need and how it will all come together.
I'll take a few pics of the most recent progress and post pics later tonight, im most looking forward to adding scenery but that wont happen until i am sure the track is the best it can be in the space i have available.

Thanks Aidan, it is in the short term for the kids but im not sure how long it will hold their intrest but i can see this turning in to a passion on mine in the long term and a big money pit judging by how much i have spent to date.
One thing that is concerning me at present is the lack of corner speed even on R3 turns the porsche and lambo's seem to go at a descent speed on corners but still not great and the audi cars are just terrible. I have sanded the rear tyres a little but could it also have something to be with the track pieces being new ?
One another point. it seems to be missing a lot of laps. I have two half straights before the sensor coming of an R2 corner which at the moment i have to take pretty slow so the cars are going straight and at fairly low speed as they go over the sensor will this be solved once i get the cable and SSDC as at the moment i am using the Scalextric firmware.

Yeah Mark0 i will have a look in to it but i may just sign up as a Plus+ member. To be honest the track is changing daily at the moment trying to get the right mix of technic/fast sections while still keeping it an interesting track. The problem with it being in the loft with the longest straight being around 18ft long is it's impossible to get the whole track in only one picture.

Am I missing something here? To see the pics you just click on the link and the pic shows up…you probably spent more time writing you did not have the time to click on the link than the time it would have taken to just click on the link.
