I picked up some tit bits about Scalextric bringing out some new NASCARs this year on top of the already announced ASCARs. It seems they've been confirmed

From the GetSlotted website:
"6 new cars announced by Scalextric for 2004

Scalextric have announced the proposed production of 6 new cars not previously featured in their 2004 catalogue. These are 2 new Limited Edition Sport versions (Renault FI) and 4 new NASCAR models. "

Can't say any of these get me excited though - all tupperware and fragile china.

the new renaults look similar to the 2003 ones, so might pass... I am mainly hoping that they have their pattern maker doing more work on the williams-bmw nose cone - cos in the catalogue, the 2004 model has the 2003 cone.

Nose cones?
I would be happy to source ANY nose cone for my existing Renault!
We have five in our club and two are racing without front wings because the wing snapped off the nose cone hangers rather than the whole cone popping out as intended. I'm sure the cones will turn up eventually though - Scalextric are pretty good in this area.

Scaley also can be relied on to spring cars that are not in the catalogue, as a pleasant surprise to cheer us up in the quieter periods - I like them for that too. Just wish I could afford to buy them all, poor old pauper that I am!

Tropi, about renault nose cones, the guy that runs the shop at Pheonix had a load of them last time I went, maybe ask Jonny if you can get in touch with him.

Paul, who runs SRA and the club shop had a delivery off scalextric last week, i had a new nose and front wing for the Renault F1, he should still have some left, give him a call, his numbers on his SRA website.

From a Scalextric leaflet, the model kits planned for this year appear to be:

Ford GT40 Mk1 "Gulf No 9" Livery
Corvette "Rebel Flag" Livery
Mercedes Black "AMG" Livery
Caterham "Gulf" Livery
TVR "Harmon Kardon" Livery
Mini Cooper Red "Union Jack" Livery

Not a bad choice.

If only they were supplied with etched metal bits/chrome...

Jamie, thanks for the good news about the GT40, that made my day. I want to do a brass chassis GT40 but I don't want to cut apart the other 3 of the Scalex GT40's I have, so the kit is the way to go.

Speaking of upcoming releases, does anyone know if Scalextric is planning any more GT-40s? There are still many good liveries left for us helpless junkies.

I really want something equivalent to run with them, also. Do I hear Porsche 904/906?
