Once again, the Monogram-MRRC Chaparral is NOT a "2C" but a "2". The 2C is a completely different animal, the only modeled examples being:
1/ the very poor vac-formed 1/24 scale MRRC body from 1968.
2/ the very poor 1/32 scale Eldon abomination.
3/ the very nice LS (now ARII) 1/24 scale model.
4/ a lone 1/43 scale white-metal/resin kit by SMTS.
The sole 2C only raced 4 times and was transformed in the first of two "2E" in the winter of 1966. The 2C was based on a GM-designed alloy tub from an experimental car called the GS2B, designed by Larry Shinoda snd Bill Mitchell. This very car has now been restored and looks similar to the Chaparral 2C because the 2C was...inspired by it.

To confuse the easily confused, one of the Chaparral 2s received modifications making it appearing SOMEWHAT like the 2C, by adding fins and a moveable spoiler aft. This car, driven by Hap Sharp, only ran once in this configuration and won the LA Times GP at Riverside in 1965. It features louvers all over the front and rear fenders. The 2C was devoid of such louvers.

Calling the "2" a "2C" has been done for years, and the many corrections made on the subject do not appear to have landed. The cars are visually VERY different, so one would think...

Besides the obvious fins suspending a moveable air spoiled, the most visually distinctive difference between the Chaparral 2/2A (3 cars built plus one spare unused chassis, all fiberglass tubs) and the Chaparral 2C (1 car built with an aluminum tub, the tub of which was used for the first of two 2E with high wings) is that there is no air scoop on front of the rear fenders. But the 2C is in fact VERY different, being much lower and smaller than the Chaparral 2A.
The Chaparral 2 began in 1963 with "flat sides" and ran this way in 1964, then was changed in 1965 to a "Coke-bottle" shape with wider wheels (the very wheels the German firm BBS will copy and then fraudulently claim invention, as Daimler-Benz falsely and fraudulently claims the invention of the automobile) and became "2A".

One of the 2A was changed at the end of 1965 to reflect part of the 2C aero changes, but was later reverted to a plain spoiler:





I hope that I made this clear enough for all to grasp? I SERIOUSLY wish that the various manufacturers (ile MRRC but also including COX!!!) would get or have gotten their act together and not mis-labeled their models. Calling a Chaparral 2 or 2A a "2C" is akin to call a Lola T70 Can-Am a "T70 MKIII-B"...
