Hello! I've posted once before, but I've been lurking on Slotforum for a while now. I've really enjoyed the forum and it's always interesting to get a more global perspective on our hobby.

Anyway, last November I started construction on a new layout using Artin track.

Here are some in-progress pictures of the 6'X17' scenicked layout. It's far from finished, but I've really enjoyed working on it so far. I live in the U.S. and Dave Reinecke of Palmer Divide Raceway is a good friend.

All of the new pictures can be seen on page 4 of my starphoto album My layout album

Oh, and "Hi" to my ol' ORS pal Fergy.

Thanks for looking,
Steve

Sounds good, but I can't see the photos

Am I the only one not to see anything hosted by photo.starblvd.net

Been like this for a couple of days now. I wonder if it's a peering issue or if someone has bolocked IP's from my ISP.

Excellent Track PR. You and David really are producing some great stuff.

I really will have to have grey track on my layout when it's built, it looks so good, and I have too many black cars.

Regards

Alan

PS I couldn't see the starphoto album either.

yes indeed the track is really nice - too bad it takes forever to load any of the pictures though...

Also - the pictures so far have been close ones showing cars etc... are there any overviews? - or is it just me who has not been able to get to the right pictures???

otherwise - a really neat job.

I wonder a bit - how do you get those rocks look so good?

Hi guys. Hi Fergy! Starphoto is a bit on the fussy side sometimes. I doublechecked the link and it seems O.K. on my end.

Regarding overview shots, I plan on taking some within the next couple of days. I did take a couple of the whole table but they were badly out of focus. I have a new camera and I'm still fussing with it. And, Peter, my apologies for the load times. I tried to optimize them as best I could without harming the quality too much, but I'll keep working at it.

Regarding the rocks, I have a diluted black and gray wash I use. The rocks are first painted in the earthtone latex paint I use for the base color on the entire layout. I then spray on my special wash. After that dries, I then dry brush white and a very small drop of yellow and gray.

Thanks for the kind comments,
Steve

Steve, it's these kind of photos that make it so clear as to why 1/32 can be so much more rewarding than HO for guys that care about scenery and overall appearance. You, David, and I were all heavily into HO at one point - and we've all gone to, or come back to, 1/32. When you look at tracks like this, it becomes very obvious why!

Nuro, actually we don't want you to see the pics! We're enjoying the stuff you do on your own without excessive influence!
Besides, shouldn't you be cracking open another bottle of wine???

Brian,

You nailed it - that's why we're in 1/32 now.

Steve's done a great job, but I've said that with EACH of his layouts.

BTW - I kind of had my hand in it...those are my moulds he's using!

Hurry up Steve, I hear a routed track calling us next. Rally, here we come!

Fergy -- thanks, I agree. These 1/32 cars are just beautiful and I think they deserve a nice backdrop. Cost is the only real downside in comparing HO and 1/32. I'm not able to buy cars as frequently as I'd like to, but I've never regretted the move.

Dave -- Rally track??? I need to get more than 1/2 done on this layout before I entertain that idea.

Thanks again,
Steve
