Hi,
I used to have the old Le Mans 24hr set when I was a kid (the one with the Gold & Silver 911's). Now having children of my own I bought these 2 sets for £25:
Night Stages & 300
The shame is that Night Stages has no cars but 300 seems complete and even has added weight on the bottom of the cars to try and keep them on the track.
I have had the set up and running, I had mixed track from both sets to get a decent layout but the inner track worked fine, the outer track only worked for the 1st half of the lap. Both Mini's need new tyres as when giving it the beans, the rears steps out even on the straight and they are off the track.
I changed to a smaller track layout and for some reason, either controller was controlling both tracks ?!?!?
I'm assuming that I need to give all the track a good clean up and all should be well?
Any advice welcome

Welcome to the forum.

Sounds like you might have made the common mistake of only having one crossover section in your layout.

Thinking about it, you may well be right - D'oh.
Just need to either get some spares for the Mini's or get some replacement cars. Are all cars able to be used or do I have to stick to the older ones?

you can use most cars on your track with adjustments, if you buy then the main thing that needs changing is the guide, taper the front and in some cases take some of of the bottom so it doesnt strike the bottom of the slot.
you will get lots f advice about changing the wheels, tyres, gears axles pinions, yes these can improve the cars but I would suggest that you try and get the cars you have running as well as possible without spending lots on money doing this.
You dont say where you are but I would look around for a local club and go there for a couple of weeks, get some ideas from them and go from there.

I do indeed have a name (Wayne) - a local club might be something of an issue as I am in Shetland

After reading some of the threads, I shan't be dipping my toes in the water to the extent that some do, I only got the set for my kids (and me) to have fun with.
The 2 Minis that I have are in dire need of new tyres as anything more than 1/4 throttle and the back end steps out and off the track.
I am also looking at getting another couple of cars (Sierra / Escort Cosworths) and then just having fun with the set.
I would love a big permanent setup but I have only just got rid of a ex pub pool table that was taking up my dining room so I don't think the wife would be too impressed if I binned the dining room furniture in favour of a massive layout.
