Newcastle Upon Tyne

As we discovered in an earlier thread there are no slot shops in London.

I'm about to spend some time in England's second city, Newcastle Upon Tyne, so the same question:-

Are there any Slot, Model or Gaming shops that are worth me trying to sneak a visit to.
I'm poorly served by local shops so anywhere that sells more than Scalextric, Airfix/Tamiya and Games Workshop would be of interest.

According to the latest reports on the North South divide London's conurbation ends in the village of Brum and everything north is just waste but thanks for the comment.

Any details of shops in the Tyne area of our wastelands??
Thanks for the above - I've convinced them a trip to the Metro Centre would be worth while.

We're on our way to GODS OWN COUNTRY
Hi

Just returned from an extended stay in Tyneside. I managed to get to the Metro Centre in Gateshead with its games workshop, Modelzone and "Metro Models" which as stated is a great little model shop stocking a very large variety of different scale models, books etc. Also visited Modelzone in Grainger Street, Newcastle which was close to Forbidden Planet and Travelling Man (If you don't know what they are, it's to late and you should stick with slot cars)
Two other shops I found were The Country House in Westmorland Rd. a very unwellcoming shop selling some models and RC stuff plus a lot of near offensive weapons; and The Model Shop in Marlborough Crescent which catered for most types of model makers. They had some overpriced GB Track cars and some second-hand cars and sets.

Amongst others bits and pieces I purchased I managed to pick up a Ninco Pajero at Modelzone for £20 so a good time was had. Now I've got to work out how to fit an MGB body onto its chassis?

A big thanks to all who provided suggestions which helped keep my sanity while I was away.

QUOTE near offensive weapons? You mean like, garden implements? Fork, shovel etc?

Unfortunately not, but they would certainly cure most of your gardening problems.

All the sort of things that youngsters relish yet these are no longer play things. The types of guns can be modified to fire more lethal projectiles and metal that can be given a sharp edge. No wonder certain people are creating a more violent age for us to inherit.
