Well it been a long haul but i have finally finished my scalextric porsche conversion of a tatty old cannon porsche to a newman after being inspired by the slot it version

You will have to forgive some of the shabby pictures as i am still getting to know my camera and was experimenting with different lights etc

The decals used in this conversion were supplied by iceman
who regulars on this forum will know the decals were of superb quality and sizing was spot on

There was one problem with a couple of decals but this was rectified fast and efficiently i for one would not source my decals from any other sauce !

The next set of pictures were taken after the main painting had been done and the decals were being applied you can see my ref picture of the slot it model next to my conversion

The next batch of pictures are taken after i have completed the application of the decals and after i have given a couple of coats of TAMIYA TS-13 CLEAR

Finally i have done some final touching up and my final couple of coats of TAMIYA CLEAR

Just a few notes for the front wheels i used a front axel and wheels from a old NINCO toyota celica and the very nice rear i used from a FLY PORSCHE 911 GT1
the lights are just the original ones supplied and the same with the motor although i will probably change this at some point in the future!

I know you will see some imperfections in the painting etc but this is my first attempt at using a airbrush and also a lot of painting was done freehand using brushes

It took longer than i imagined and i will not be embarking on a new project just yet i need a rest

And once again a big thank you to iceman without him this project would never have got of the ground

Please give me some feedback negative/positive whichever i am always open to constructive critiscism

That really is brilliant, Paul. I second JP's comment- it's great to see those old-but-still-cool cars given a spruce-up. Fantastic job! Have a rest, then start your next project- we really want to see it!

I missed this thread for ages- I didn't think of looking here for building projects. Shouldn't it be with the Scratchbuilds or Cars or Master Classes?
It certainly makes me want to revive my old Scaley Porsche. Ice Man's decals make any livery possible now, I guess!

QUOTE (gecko @ 25 Nov 2004, 10:09)Great job Paul, how did you do the windsccreen decal? Did you remove the original one or just painted over the top?

Cheers

fairly easy this one i used t cut to remove the old tampo and then put a base coat of white before applying the decal on top

i was more impressed with the wheel selection i was able to procure for both front and rear
