And they also don't get much credit for producing two completely different body moulds to mirror the changes in the full size car! Something that a lot of the other manufacturers do not do, preferring to relivery an older model instead!

Hmmmmm!!!

So that's two of you saying to race the newer version! Interesting, coz when I checked my racing stable, they were all the older version. And I've often been left puzzled (and behind) by my lack of performance against similar models at the clubs.

Any ideas on the reason?

I just took the two types apart to inspect and the only difference I could see was that the early version has the guide mounted a couple of mm further forward. The rear wing is mounted on the body on the later against chassis mounted on the early. Wheelbase, track and tyre wheel/sizes all match and both are NC2 powered. I think a comparison at the club on Thursday night is in order!

Count the mirrors Mr FZR, early has one centrally mounted, later has two. Early car has enough roll hoop for a passenger and the rear wing has central mounting, later has very pronounced offset engine shroud and rear wing mounts at outer edges.

Oh! And you are right about the grilles!
