I just received my Ninco newsletter and it says there is a new BMW X5 due out in July to go with the other Raid vehicles. I dont know if this is old news but I thought some of you might be interested.

Sweet.

I dislike Beemers but love these Raid cars, am bored with the Mitty and can't contemplate buying a Ford Pick-up - sheesh!

Loved the Raid trucks at Goodwood (one for the future, Ninco?). I was the fool staring through the radiator grill trying to spot the engine - most had it mounted a good six feet back.

I probably looked like giant roadkill, squashed against the mesh!

I'm with you on the Ford part...

But what about Beemers?

Thery're beautifull, are fast, have good engines, handle very well, are perfectly finished off with decent materials... and ok they're a bit expensive... but they have nice re-sale prices also...

And btw... I don't drive a Beemer, I drive a Volkswagen...

Ooh! Thanks for the pic Russell

I'm sorry, but the Cayenne fell out of the ugly tree hitting not only every branch, but also the nest of delinquent squirrels on the way down. Sad to say, the Cayenne robust construction averted its demise upon hitting the ground.

So we see again... tastes differ bigtime...

I like the Cayenne very much... allthough I like the Touareg even more...

And about the picture: The X5 looks so old... Like I see it, it looks like an early nineties scalextric... I hope it's the picture quality that makes it look not that good... because I wanted to buy an X5...

Gunther,

I see what you mean, for me I think it's to do with the rather plain White wheels that have been fitted to the BMW X5. They remind me of the Oz wheels that were popular during the early nineties & fitted to loads of cars back then.

Regarding the Ford, I really like the pick up, I didn't expect to as pickups in general are not my cup of tea, manufacturer bias doesn't enter the equation.

The Ford is a very detailed model (one of Ninco's most detailed) and goes well by all accounts (yet to purchase one) the trouble is, I have heard that the 2wd Ford is a lot quicker than the Mitsubishi Pajero (fantastic model & a hoot to drive) so achieving even classes presumably a problem?

Raid cars are brilliant in my book, it's just a shame there is no class at my local club - they are disallowed from entering the SCX TT's class. boo!

QUOTE (astro @ 30 Jun 2004, 10:34)Hi tDI, its nice to know someone loves it, but Diff is right about its ugliness!!

Strange...

When the Cayenne was just released, I had to get used to it too... but if I see a Cayenne Turbo now... shebang... what a car...

I honestly think it's beautifull...

Maybe we could do a little survey: The Ugliest 1:1 Car. Every-one can give up three models that he'd rather spit on, than lay eyes on... I did this on an other forum (normal car forum) and the results were rather surprising.

Beauty, eye of the beholder....fill in the rest yourself

I have to agree with Diff tho.....i'm a big porsche fan, but the Cayenne was obviously cobbled together during "work experience" week.....sooooo very ugly!

Regards, the raid stuff....I think ninco should be applauded for their continued commitment to it, I don't own any raid's (yet
) but i'm all for the variety the offer (and i even like the ford !
).

I'm also not an irl beemer fan, but the X5 is one of those that I sort of appreciate. But that slot car really doesn't appeal to me......it kinda looks too "toyish" (maybe a combination of the palsticy blue colour and those god awful white wheels).

As for "ugliest real life car".........can we list more than three, cos hundreds come to mind

They are all over this country like a plague. I'm a self confessed car snob and love the fact that when I drive either of my cars the chances of passing an identical one are slimmer than slim.

Plus the new five and seven shapes look darn funny to me.

A 1:32 X5 is a must have though.

Didn't realize the Ford wasn't 4wd.

Maybe it's because they are really good, and beautifull, that so many people buy them... I'd rather drive a nice good car that is sold quite frequently... than something that's less good, but nobody drives...

Wankel, can I ask you what kind of car you drive?

What about Vauxhall's then? And Fords?

And I love the new 5 and the new 7! Can't wait for the new 3 to be released!

Oh, ah. Don't want to go getting folks upset here. As I said, I'm a car snob. These words are just my opinions. Place no more value or worth in them than that. I'm not denying the mechanical reliability or integrity of the Beemer, I do think it superior to my Toyota Camry, or "the Barge" as I call her (a rare sight on British roads - Camrys not barges, although if you think about it.... But very popular in the states, I'm told).

I'd dispute the beauty of the 3, 5 and 7 models until the cows came home, were milked and sent back out the next day, though. Just my aesthetics, nothing more.

Beemers sell in large numbers and are well stuck together. Fine and dandy and not in dispute. Even if I could afford one, I'd rather not run with any crowd, that's all.

My other car is a RX-7, a black version of the one in my signature. To me, an automotive work of art and less than 100 were officially imported into the UK, so it is rare and that makes me smile too.
