Now that restrictions are being lifted, we can hopefully resume NNRC properly.

This Thursday (22nd July) we will have a race night and all who can make it are welcome.

If we have enough racers we will run 6 lanes and 4 classes, if not we will do 4 lanes and 6 classes, so that whatever happens everyone will get the full 24 races.

The classes are;

1. Open Rally - Any rally car with modifications allowed.
2. Hornby NGTC - As raced many times before, but now with the BMW 330i added to the grid. Standard cars.
3. Hornby Muscle - Again the same as raced many times before. Pre 76 models in standard format.
4. Ninco Classic - Another old favourite, again for standard cars.
So if we have to run 4 lanes the extra classes will be;
Hornby Classic Touring - from Minis and Beetles through to Super Touring cars. "Monday Night" tyre rule applies - any tyre from another production slot car can be used, but not aftermarket tyres. Cars otherwise standard.
Indy / IRL - Any standard car from any slot company.
I have to apologise in advance for the state of the unit, Tony was instructed by the landlady to remove his old Bolwextric van which he had been using as a shed for all his work items, so all that stuff is now in the unit. The track itself is perfectly usable and he had time to fix several of the issues with it at the start of the pandemic, but we have to share our breaktime area with piles of building materials/tools. Also it will be necessary to bring along your own refreshments for breaktime. Hopefully these inconveniences will be addressed over time.
There is also a slight increase in race fees to £8, as Tony is no longer doing birthday/corporate parties, club night fees have to cover the unit rent.
Hope to see as many of you as possible on Thursday. (y)

:unsure:

Hi Pete, Will hasn't been updating the website since the pandemic hit.

But we have been running Thursdays fairly regularly since government guidelines have allowed. Mondays are a bit hit and miss due to lower numbers.

You did say you would be joining us until you had to give up your car, so I'm a bit confused by your post.

Anyway, while I am here, new classes starting this week are;

  1. 94-01 LeMans
  2. Hornby NGTC
  3. Ninco GT
  4. Hornby Muscle

Thanks Jim. At the moment I am without a car and I have to rely on borrowing the wife's, but she needs it on Thursday evenings. This situation may not be permanent, but I have to assume it will be.
Sorry about the confusion.
When Adam is released on 30th December he will come to live with me, at which time he will buy a car of his own and then there will be two cars in the household, meaning my chances of borrowing one will improve. It also means that Adam will probably come to race at NNRC too.

Whoops, forgot to update the new classes we have picked.:whistle:

We have decided to stick to 4 lanes for the rest of this year, so we will keep running 6 classes to keep the race quantity the same as before.

New classes picked as follows;

  1. Classic Rally
  2. Lotus/Caterhams
  3. GT3/GTE
  4. Hornby NASCAR
  5. SCX NASCAR
  6. 80s LeMans GT
Dates are;
16th, 23rd & 30th September
7th &14th October

Classic Rally is limited to Scalextric & SCX cars only. Pre 1980 and under 2-litre cars only.
Lotus/Caterhams is for the Hornby versions, but as tyres are hard to find they are free choice.
GT3/GTE is for any standard post 2000 car that ran in these categories from any manufacturer.
Hornby NASCAR is for standard versions of any age as is SCX NASCAR.
80s LeMans GT
is a class for any manufacturer, but specifically excludes Group C and prototype cars. So M1s, 935s, 512BBs, Lancia Monte Carlo etc.

Well, after making the decision to stick to 4 lanes/6 classes until next year, we have had to rethink that with the steadily increasing driver numbers, and so we will return to 6 lanes/4 classes from the next set of classes.

So for,
21st & 28th October
4th, 11th & 18th November

We will be running;

  1. SCX GT
  2. Classic Rally
  3. JGTC
  4. 60's LeMans
All classes are for standard cars.

SCX GT does what it says on the tin.

Classic Rally is the same format as we are currently running - limited to pre 1980 under 2-litre cars from SCX or Hornby.

JGTC and 60's LeMans are for cars from any slot manufacturer.

Good Evening Mr M and the Team

Good night last night, many thanks.

One question, is this the kind of truck for the next round?

Hah! I was doing the new member validations earlier this evening and I saw one was from Havant.

"That's interesting" I thought. Then the penny dropped!

Hey Rod, welcome to the forum!

Yes, that truck will do you nicely. Some of us have Fly ones too, but other than the original Fly Buggyra the Hornby truck is a match for them. And about a third of the price!

Volvo-man? Explain please. At the club if it's too embarrassing to share worldwide ;)

Morning Jim

I see nothing gets by you! So much for anonymity!
Thanks for the intel on the Trucks, I have one in my sights!

Ref Volvo-man, when I joined I was asked for a User/Forum name and the original one I choose was unavailable (again not my real name but a longer story for another time), so as I gazed out of the window onto my drive thinking of catchy/ pithy monikers, it struck me (as this is a car forum mainly inhabited by blokes)! Consequently, I'm clearly not not Ferrari, Aston or Lambo man!!
Have a good W/E, see you Thursday!
Cheers! 🍻

I think it depends on whether Dave is match fit again. If he is, then we should be 7 and can run the 6 lanes. If not (and no other visitors appear), we'll run 4 lanes and the extra classes will be Hornby Muscle & Front-engined ALMS cars.

So make sure you have your AMC Javelin with you, just in case.(y)

Thanks for that Rod, I was going to ask you to bring it next week to clarify but forgot, so that's really handy so I can get the class sheets sorted for next week.

So the first classes of 2022 were picked last night.

On January 6th, 13th, 20th & 27th
February 3rd & 10th

We will be running;

  1. Hornby narrow F1 (Post 2000)
  2. Hornby Muscle
  3. DTM (Any make)
  4. Hornby 80's Touring cars.
Now I'm off to learn YouTube so I can put up the video of the last truck race from last night.

Does YouTube have a "Bleep Audio" button? :oops::ROFLMAO:
