After a very long postponement due to Covid, Molesey SCC is pleased to announce that we now have a firm date for this event: Saturday/Sunday 26/27th March 2022.

The format for the weekend is yet to be finalised, but is likely to be similar to that outlined in the first post of this thread. Practice on Saturday 26th with racing on Sunday 27th.

With many more drivers now familiar with NSR's Formula 86/89 cars and several clubs racing them as a class, this event promises to be a great weekend with very close and enjoyable racing.

Sorry for the delay in responding to this, but you're all now added to the entry list.

As this event has been delayed for so long, if any of those listed below no longer wish to race, please let me know so that we have an accurate idea of how many will be attending.

The entry is limited to 42 drivers because we don't think we'll be able to fit any more than that into the clubroom, so if you're still wondering whether to enter, now's the time to put your name down. I'm sure it will be a great event, on a great track with a great bunch of people.

We're at 35 entries currently so won't be requiring payment until the day of the race, but should we reach more than 42, we'll open a reserve list and ask existing entries to confirm their entry by paying their entry fee in advance.

Having now looked again at the size of our clubroom, we've realised that our initial entry limit of 42 drivers was a bit optimistic and squeezing that number of drivers and pit-boxes in isn't going to be practical, so we've reduced the limit to 36.

Everyone who already has an entry still has one, but we're now at the limit, so if anyone listed below isn't intending to race, please say so so that your space can be released to someone else.

If you've not yet entered but would like to do so, please add your name here and we'll open a reserve list, at which point we'll ask existing entries to confirm by paying their entry fee in advance.

What's happening re handout motors and wheels/tyres?

We were discussing it at the club this evening, John.

Motors will be handouts, but tyres are a little more complicated and a decision hasn't been made yet.

NSR's usual handout tyre compound doesn't work on our track, and handout tyres of any sort are problematic because once mounted they'll need to be trued properly, so it seems most likely that tyres will be bring-your-own with a free choice of compound, so long as they're identifiable with a visible NSR logo on at least one sidewall of each tyre. Specifying a compound would be next to impossible to police.

If it's any help, some of the Molesey guys use Ultragrip Evos, others Supergrip Evos. I'm not aware of anyone using Extremes. The "black reds" don't work at all.

We're still in discussion with NSR and Gaugemaster and should have a definitive answer about tyres in a week to ten days' time, which I'll post here as soon as I have it.

Us non-wood track racers do need some lead time to find, glue, true, oil and test tyres for the event.
