Just sitting here this morning enjoying the sun and I started thinking, what kind of big event could we run on our new track. Given that our track record for attracting people to race at open meetings is pretty p*** poor it needs to be something that will have a fairly broad appeal. Personally I thought our group c event next month would fit the bill, but that's another story...

So how about an 8, 12 or dare I say it, 24 hour race for NSR classics? Run to the same rules as the WRE 24hr in Italy. I was thinking probably late Feb/early March 2013.

It would also serve as a great opportunity for anyone going to Italy next year to do some valuable testing on the same surface as the Italian race.

The event would be open to teams from anywhere, so anyone reading this please feel free to leave comments/feedback.

As I say it's just an idea at the moment, But before I go any further, I need to know if the support's there. Obviously we would be looking for six teams to make it a success.

Demon slot would be very interested in a NSR event, I'm not fussed on duration.

I must admit a full Monty 24 hour would be awesome and I'm sure as long as the decibel level doesn't escalate too much at night the neighbours won't mind.
We're looking into track lighting so the night section won't be a problem.
I might approach NSR and see if there's any way we could acquire some of the grey rubber for the event just so we can make sure everyone's on the same tyre.

Like the idea of a 24hr, but to test the water I'm sure a 6 hour endurance would be worth considering. The advantage of 6 hour is you don't have to fit any lights in the car and you can run it in one day.

We could introduce some artificial night by blanking off the windows?

NSR is a good choice I think, and I would like to see them as an endurance at our club meeting!

Im sure I could get a Norwich team interested, they like the new track you have down there. Personally Id prefer a 6 or 8 hour, but if you go the whole hog, dosnt fuss me!

I'm guessing that we will be doing things first come first serve basis so if there are more interested parties then get your name down and keep checking back for an announcement on rules/period of time etc soon!
