Do you have an NSR Formula 86-89 car that you would like to race and live in a reasonable distance of Southampton?

At Netley SCRC we run two styles of racing, BSCRA orientated on Mondays and Hard Body on every fourth Wednesday, after cleaning the track.

We have decided that our main class for Hard Body nights is going to be NSR Formula 86-89 starting next week on 23rd November and would like to welcome you.

There is usually someone at the club by 18.30. Racing will start at about 20.00.

The format will be one run on each lane with the total laps scored to count and we plan to run in groups of drivers of similar pace. Depending on when that finishes we could also run some “run what you brung” sports car racing.

Initially the Formula 86-89 cars will be run as they come out of the box with tyre preparation (truing, gluing, and softening) and ballasting permitted. Once we have had some experience of running them on our track the participants will be able to suggest, discuss and vote on any “upgrades”.

Following 23rd November, the Hard Body nights up until August 2023 are:

11th January
8th February
8th March
5th April
10th May
7th June
5th July
2nd August

Directions to Netley Slot Car Racing Club

The Reading Rooms, Portsmouth Road, Old Netley, Hampshire SO31 8EU.

From the M27 Junction 8, leave the roundabout under the motorway, heading south up the hill on the dual carriageway, following the signs for Southampton and the A27.
At the large roundabout at the top of the hill, take the second exit into Hamble Lane, (A3025), signposted Hamble, passing Tesco on your left. You will cross 2 small roundabouts. The first is the Tesco entrance and the second is only about 100 metres after it.

After the second roundabout, take the next right, Portsmouth Road, A3025 signposted Old Netley and Woolston.

Putting the postcode into Google Maps indicates a location in Manor Close, a cul-de sac just on the left after turning into Portsmouth Road, which is misleading. The Reading Rooms is a single-story building about 300 metres further along on the left, painted magnolia with a blue door.

Car parking on site is limited, as is parking in neighbouring roads, with some parking restrictions. We suggest car sharing wherever possible, dropping off boxes and passengers at the club room and then parking either at the Plough PH, Portsmouth Road SO31 8BT to the west of the club room or in the public car park at Bursledon Community Centre, Portsmouth Road, SO31 8ES to the east of Hamble Lane.
