I've brough my 1st NSR and noticed that the wheels are diffrent to most alloys I've got.
Most have a wide tall section for the main part of the tire and the rums it on a resses.

With the NSR its more like two discs going round the wheel.

Can anyone explain the reason for this?

This is the air hub system so that air goes down the middle of the tyre expanding it down the straights making the top speed higher , also the air system wheels make it easierto run tyres in as they get pneumatic and grippy

I assumed is purely for weight reduction. There is also the "air" system with a series of holes inside the recess.
You will soon find out that the precision of NSR mechanical components is top of the top
BUT due to the different tolerances you cannot mix easily components with other brands .i.e. NSR shaft with slot.it gears
