Next Monday 5th. September we are hoping to have some guest racers at Abertawe, and so, to cater for our guests, we are having a change from the planned calendar so instead of it being DTMs as per calendar, we will be having LMPs, so polish off your body shells, get your PSR tyres scrubbed, (but unglued
), and get ready for some close racing and show some Abertawe hospitality!

Well we enjoyed the company of Chris, Mel and Ben from Cardiff Slot Racers for the first time last night. It must have been a bit of a shock coming from Tom's high speed, 4 lane Ninco set-up to our 2 lane Scaley Sport set-up, but hey! racing is racing!

Cars were a mixture with the NSR Audi LMP cars in the majority being raced by Chris, Mel and Ben (although Ben's was in A/W set-up so strictly speaking it was ineligiblr for LMP Class), Tom and Mike were running a pair of Arrowslot BMWs with the 3D printed chassis while Alan went for his Ninco Accura and Seb raced his Reynard.

As you may expect, racing was fast, close and furious yet (mostly) remarkably clean too!
What was perhaps unexpected was the superiority of the 2 Arrowslot cars over all of the rest, they really were impressively fast with most of the racers in the low 5 second bracket occasionally dipping into the high 4's while the Arrowslots consistantly in the 4's with Mike getting fastest lap of the night in both lanes with a best of 4.560 seconds.

Anyhow, the overall honours on the night went to Mike from Tom followed by Chris, Seb, Ben, Alan and Mel after 150 laps of racing.

Great to have you around even though shame I didn't meet you. It's good to see our new race timing system is finding it's feet quickly.
Close racing as always, Tom I had my bet on you to win actually only to be corrected by Mr longdog, well you must work harder..lol..

I knew it was going to be close, I think Mike came back at me towards the end, I'll have to check the results.

There is an error in the heat runnings as we never raced each other but the result would have been roughly the same, either way.

I need a longer gear in that car when it's LMP, hopefully it'll be a bit better tonight.
As we slipped the LMPs in last week instead of the DTMs and as our calendar says 50s and 60s Sports Cars which we've dropped, I think we can safely say that Monday 12th. September is DTM night.
Ninco1 ...Penelope Pitstop's favourite class. However was she able to fight off stiff competition, especially from Tom, who is snapping at her heels in this class?

see for yourself..here are the results. I t turned out that Tom had the fastest laps, but the overall average lap time was higher than Penelope Pitstop's, which gave her the edge at the end. There was a lot of banter and fun as usual and one race incident made everyone laugh when Tom and Sandra raced each other and were swapping lanes for the next heat. They decided to have a bit of a bash at each other with Tom sticking coloured dots on Sandra and Sandra punching Tom's arms ( with no effect by the way). Tom then ordered Sandra to pass him to plug her controller in and the race started.......or not? Both had a false start, so both got a penalty and when they were finally off no one knew what actually was going on, but it turned out we were plugged in for the wrong lanes and raced the other ones car !! Everyone was in hysterics and the race had to be restarted..
Thanks for Chris, Mel and Ben for joining us again, hope you will be gracing us with your presence more often!

I knew this comment would come and I knew it would be coming from you! Seems your poor little brain can either not digest so much info at once nor can it see logic.. LOL ....!

I will try to do the same layout than last week with a special R3 Tom bend in the straight. You said you liked it !!!

sorry, can you run that by me again. Too many words and NOT ENOUGH STRAIGHTS......lol
Well first off, apologies for being so late with posting these results, I've been away, blah, blah, blah as I'm sure Sandra has mentioned in other threads!!!

Still, better late than never, eh?

Only 3 racers turned up for this one, but we elected to go ahead and race anyway, it just meant that with 2 racing and just 1 marshal, the designated marshal for tha race was going to get something of a workout and the racers would have to be patient. On the plus side, it taught you that it's always better to stay in the slot! lol

As usual, the racing was pretty close with Mike and his Mercedes DTM pulling out a lead in each of his races and setting fastest laps along the way. Tom and Sandra were close, but not close enough and of course the good-natured banter flowed quite freely!

As there were only 3 of us, we decided to simply continue racing with the result that we ran 3 rounds of racing and had a darn good evening too! Results of all 3 rounds of racing are below, courtesy of the excellent RC software.

Monday evening saw a good turnout for the Open GT class with Tom bringing a car full of racers from Cardiff, so let battle commence!

Cars this time were Tom with his Arrowslot BMW with 3D chassis, Chris running an NSR Mosler, (in the best colour too!), Mel with his Slot.it GT40, Ben had his NSR Audi R8, Sideways Sandra a.k.a. Penelope Pitstop, (I guess that makes Tom Dick Dastardly then?), running her NSR Ordi R8, (you'd think these German girls would learn how to pronounce German car names properly wouldn't you?) and Mike with his Arrowslot Saleen with 3D chassis.

Racing took place over 30 x 20 lap heats with each driver running one race on the inside lane and one race on the outer lane of the Scaley Sport track against each opponent as is usual.

Racing was fast and furious with a few people getting into the sub 4 second bracket. Tom was his usual determined self with his Arrowslot BMW and 25k NSR motor absolutely flying around the track, flying being the operative word over the bumps too! Sandra was showing that she is a girl who can swing both ways when she wants to with her usual exuberant tail-out-everywhere style, who'd have though that Ordi build a rally car eh? Chris was his usual smooth, fast and consistent self, while Mel was sure but steady with steadily decreasing lap times throughout the evening. Ben showed us all how to wheelie an NSR Audi R8 down the straight, but what do you expect with a bumpy main straight and 25k of NSR Evo up his chuff? Mike went for consistency with his Arroeslot Saleen and Speed 3 motor which payed off with a 2nd place to Tom.

All in all, another good night's racing and a big thank you to the Cardiff crew for supporting us at Abertawe.

I can't wait to get our 4 lane routed track up and running!
