Hi,

Can anyone recommend a good gear puller / pusher.

I purchased the Ninco one as it was cheap and at the time I was on a tight budget but to be honest its not that great.

Many thanks

Colin

There you see are two questions here for the Puller I can only recommend one, the MB Slot Gear Puller it removes pinion gears. Ideal for removing sidewinder pinions with minimal space between motor can & pinion.

I wish I'd bought their Pinion Press too, if its is halfway as good as the Puller it would be a great tool! One day I will

Hmm in what way did you have a problem with it Colin? I've had mine for coming upto three years and not had a problem with it, and I change pinions quite frequently. Only slight issue has been the press end has become a little rounded meaning the shaft can slip a little, easily cured with a file though.

How often do you need to change gears? - If you are doing it a lot then the slot.it or MB Slot or Scaleauto ones might be worth the extra money - if you only do it occaisionally you can buy a gear puller from Parma or slick 7 for around 5 quid they have a press for a similar amount it is basically a C clamp with two holes drilled in it - it works and I got both of them for around $15 or about 9 quid

can post pics if needed

I just bought a Tire Razor puller/press. I haven't tried it yet and it seems quite utilitarian and not as polished as an MB or Slot.it. On the flip side the price is right and others have said that it get the job done. You can find his section on Slot Car Illustrated's Forum under the manufacturers.

Tire Razor is good too but with the P&P cost to UK, you might as well get Slot.it
