Just back from the big launch, and thanks to Sandra and the gang for the warm welcome and some good racing - not to mention the excellent Mango and Ginger cakes. I know I shouldn't be, but I was surprised to find so many racers from the fairer sex in attendance, we blokes were outnumbered, at least at first!
The new track clearly shows the amount of care that went into its construction. It's still pristine under its swanky new paint job and proper braided conductors. There's a real air of quality about it, so well done to all concerned. Photos really don't do it justice.
Although it looks simple there is a surprising variety of driving styles to the lanes: Blue is a succession of fast sweepers that gives it a BRISCA like feel, whereas Yellow is as tight and twisty as any Ninco, and that compound radius last corner on Green is still a total mystery.
Hopefully now we'll get the chance finally to complete the Winter Series of CTM races with the long awaited Abertawe round.
As promised, here's the proper version of that circuit diagram I was trying to remember. Linky. The diagram you want is in post 16. That way the relay automatically applies full brakes at race end, preventing the race end crashes we found with the faster cars.
With one of Tom's famed suitcases handling the wiring you can safely ignore the irritating pedantry of 300SLR in posts 23 and 29.
Thank you to everyone attending the opening event yesterday and yes indeed there was a large group of females attending the day. We had 7 girls incl. me in total. We had quite a few races and lots of different cars were tried out. Everyone really enjoyed, there were plenty of drinks and food available as well as homemade muffins.
Some known faces turned up from as far as Hereford, thank you for coming Michael ( hope you didn't run over that lovely pony on the way home!). Some new people had a look what we were all about and got to grips very quickly with racing a slot car.
Huge thanks to Michael for making the journey from Hereford and also to Chris from Cardiff. It was really good of you to come and support us, thanks again gents.
