Hi guys, whoever is organising the Ossett swapmeet can you put the postcode somewhere so we can work out mileage, times etc.

Appologies if it's already out there and I have missed it.

Many thanks

Thanks, made a difference of about 10 miles each way.

Is it going to be a swapmeet with tracks to try and get the general public involved like the Swindon swapmeet? Or just another 'table only' job?

90 miles each way.

Well worth it to re-establish a viable meet in the badlands!

Even if it is close to this weekends little event.

See you there.

I will be travelling east, so if anyone is short of a lift let me know.

Cheers

277 miles each way for me, but keen to support the organisers if there will be enough attendance (buyers) to make it worth the journey.

Are there any details of table /pitch costs yet?

Collectors table 3' x 2'6" is only £5
Dealer table with space behind for a secondary table is £15

Open 10 - 14.30
Sellers from 8am

I haven't seen any details of tracks to play on but I would hope so !

I'd like to see this Northern swappie become an established event in the calendar but I think the local swappies are finding it hard to compete against the internet and I'm sure the cost of fuel means people are more reluctant to travel to the more distant venues ! I know for me personally the travelling costs were the deciding factor when I decided not to go to Gaydon !
Personally I think the customer to target for a local swappie organiser is the dads and lads in the surrounding area . Lets face it ...most of the slot enthusiasts will already know about the dates and venues of the various swappies . A few carefully placed adverts could attract a whole new bunch of recruits to the hobby . Get them through the doors and racing on a few different tracks and hopefully buying a few cars to take home ?

As a reminder the Ossett swapmeet is tomorrow from 10am.

We have pretty much filled the venue with at least 13 stands, Pendles of course being one of them as already posted on SF, as well as some of th other regular dealers who are supporting this event, plus some private sellers.

We have a track available kindly loaned by David Lord for those that which to try out their purchases.

There are a limited number of Scalextric Ferraris available at the event, which have been produced for this revival of the Northern Swapmeet (hopefully more to follow), so all we need now is the support of NSCC members, slot forum members and of course the public.

Light refreshments and plenty of parking are available and of course cheap entry!

Advertisinghas been done locally, on eBay and of course here, so come along tomorrow and grab a bargain.

Any reaction to this swapmeet then? 4 days gone and no comments yet. At the risk of being shot down it did not seem that well supported IMHO despite the efforts of traders who travelled a long way to get there, and the NSCC to promote it with a special car as well. Maybe because it was a Saturday perhaps?

Hi, I travelled from Norfolk and had a couple of friends with me.
It was easy to find with the sat nav but, it would have been easier
with more signs for the venue iteself.
It was good but could have done with more stalls.
I was pleased to meet David Yerbury face to face at last and we had a long chat.
The event was well organised but needs more support from members and sellers.
