Nick,

Do you have any white numbers? Stirling's green Maserati normally had white numbers, with no roundels. If not, then roundels with black numbers is fine. My preference is for number 7, but any number will do other than 2 or 4.
Have you noticed that three of the Scalextric Classic GP cars are number 4? Daft!

Thanks, Peter.

I thought you might like to see my track now that I have finished laying it. It is Scalextric Digital, which allows up to six cars to race on a two lane track, although the room size limits the number of drivers to four. The total length is 16 metres, and there are five lane change sections. I will use it for about a month to iron out any bugs before adding the scenery.

Tight infield section just after the start/finish

Mad dash up to the hairpin before super-fast outer section (flat out on the outside lane with most cars!)

Hard on the brakes before the tricky downhill right hander back to the start/finish. Lap time with a Scalex Ferrari P4 - about 6 seconds!

Do you like it?

Peter.

QUOTE (Nick49 @ 16 May 2006, 09:44) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>All I'll say at the moment is, it was quite a successful car at Le Mans coming third one year.Nick

Hmm..... Let's see - model 956 Porsches finished third at Le Mans in 1982, 83, 84, and 1986.
1982 was a Rothmans car, but they also won, so I will discount that because you would have said it was a winning car. 1986 was the Spirit Of America car, so obviously it's not that.

That leaves the Kenwood liveried Kremer Porsche of 1983

......or the Skoal Bandit Porsche of 1984

Kremer is my guess, but I will be happy with either!

I still have a couple of the green an' yeller Porsches, and I also have these:

Brand new - £18.00, one left.

Raced once at Bowlextric - £15.00

Tested only for about 10 laps - £15.00

Let me know if you want any of them.

Hi Nick,

I have fitted it to a saloon body (Ninco Mitsubishi evo VIII) and tested it briefly. It seems very fast and smooth, also very hard to de-slot! The acid test will be tonight when I race it in Manor Farm's open saloon class.

QUOTE (Nick49 @ 2 Oct 2006, 14:31) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>I read a post in another thread which seems to imply that the Slot.It HRS chassis is a tight fit.Nick

I can see that it would be. The HRS chassis is thicker than the standard Slot-it in the area between the front axle and the motor pod. The interior will foul the chassis at this point, so you may need to fit a GOM lightweight interior.

Hi lads,
My re-liveried Porsche 956 (looking a bit battered now) has undergone its final modification, just in time for the last round of the current No Name series. It will also be used soon on Mondays when the Manor Farm "open" class switches from saloons.

It looks like a normal Slot-it Porsche 956:

But underneath the bodyshell:

A Hobby Slot Diablo chassis, with Slot-It motor pod supported by magnetic suspension front and rear, Slot-It zero-grip front tyres and Ortmann rears. Oh, and the bodyshell has a GOM lightweight interior.

What's the betting it is slower than the standard car?

What have you done, Nick?

I admit am a bit of a livery purist when it comes to NASCAR, but turning Johnny Benson's beautiful Pontiac into something resembling a discarded cigarette packet has to be wrong! Generally I am an awed admirer of your reliveries, but not this time.
I wonder what reception it will receive in the US.
