Hello,

Following a bit of a prompt from Scott on the NNRC thread I've started another thread. Its just to cover my scratch building projects although anybody else is welcome to join in of course.

I WILL CONTINUE TO POST ON THE nnrc THREAD AS WELL.

At the moment I have a Ford F3L P68 on the go and have just received through the post an Airfix E Type Jaguar and VW Beetle. The Jag is going to be turned in the Bob Tullius Group 44 version. I know Top Slot produce this but I fancy the challenge. The Beetle is going to be turned into a Uniroyal Fun Cup Endurance racer which are based on a modified Beetle bodyshell but sitting on a single seater racing chassis. I intend to use the Scalextric Sport Tuning range which is why I wanted to see how zxr400er's Ferrari 156 went with the little F1 motor in it. The Airfix Beetle is smaller than I imagined it would be so I think the F1 motor will be quite suitable.

A plain white number 7 it is then. You must have seen the same picture of Stirling Moss driving his Maserati 250F at Oulton Park as I have. It'll be done tonight.

I'm still trying to design and print some Silk Cut decals for the Jaguar XJR9. I only have a standard colour printer and Microsoft Word programme. Getting everything to line up to the model's proportions is a bit of a headache. Hopefully I've sorted the problem of not being able to print white. I'm using the background white paint of the bodyshell coming through the "no fill" sponsor names. At least I hope I am. Its a 50/50 chance. Other sponsor names which should be white are going to have to be another light colour to allow for alignment. Its all a challenge.

I regret to inform you that I have no suitable white numbers. The ones I was thinking about are obviously 1/43 scale and are far too small for a car of this era. Sorry. In the old days you could go down to your local model shop and buy some more but model shops are a scarce commodity nowadays, although I will try the ones that are around.

On the other hand the driver figure and ancillaries are looking good.

Hello Peter,

I've finished your Stirling Moss Maserati 250F, albeit without the racing numbers and IMO it looks pretty good. On Tuesday I intend to do a bit of testing at Bolwextric so, if you can make it, you can collect the car then. If do come, bring your Number 7's with you and we can finish the car off properly. I did try taking a some photos with our new digital camera and what a mess I made of it. More practice necessary.

I have also made up the "Silk Cut" decals for the Scalextric Jaguar XJR9. Unfortunately, although they looked great when printed on normal paper, when I printed onto decal paper it came out looking like a draft copy. To cut a long story short I eventually double printed over the same decal sheet and applied what I had. Not great but at least I've got a Silk Cut Jaguar. A bit frustrating to say the least.

Hey zxr400er (although not for much longer I presume)

You're an ebay trader, bid for me as I have TWO Liqui Moly cars already. OK they are in 1/32 scale but I do like Porsche 935's and this would be a sure winner in the Nick's Folly class. Do you think it would need a Ninco spring guide?

Hello,

At home I have my testing oval which is now about 17 feet long. I use a MRRC 40 ohms red controller which I have had and used since the sixties. Since I started using it for racing at bolwextric I have always had an issue with it as it wanted to cut out at maximun speed. I got another two MRRC red controllers and relegated my original one to my test track. Now my test track is that much longer I still get the cut out problem so I got my other "new" controller out of its box and connected that up.

What a revelation. its like fitting a Formula One engine into the back of all my cars. Its the best controller of the lot!! My cars are flying around. It will become my race controller. Its a shame I'm having to miss the race meeting this Thursday, but I'll be back......cue the "Jaws" sound track

Oh and my MRRC Toyota Celica Group 5 is getting a relivery as well.

I thought you might like to see my track now that I have finished laying it. It is Scalextric Digital, which allows up to six cars to race on a two lane track, although the room size limits the number of drivers to four. The total length is 16 metres, and there are five lane change sections. I will use it for about a month to iron out any bugs before adding the scenery.

Tight infield section just after the start/finish

Mad dash up to the hairpin before super-fast outer section (flat out on the outside lane with most cars!)

Hard on the brakes before the tricky downhill right hander back to the start/finish. Lap time with a Scalex Ferrari P4 - about 6 seconds!

Nice looking track and its good to see you getting some elevation in there as well.

Some of it looks quite tight and tricky, I presume its relatively easy to reach the cars that may de-slot. The best I have at the moment is my flat testing oval in the loft using my old Airfix track with 17 feet of straight on each side. The best I can do at the moment is try to extend it by about 3 feet but I am DETERMINED to get a proper circuit constructed before the end of the year (thats this year!!).

I am also in the process of gearing up for three reliveries. The Scalextric Sauber I bought off Jordan is going to become a "Kouros" version. I have bought a white Artin NASCAR from Gene at Slotcarplace which will become the Menards Daytona 2005 car. Finally I have decided on the relivery for your Porsche 956. All I'll say at the moment is, it was quite a successful car at Le Mans coming third one year.

I must sort out how to post pictures here as it was one of the main reasons for becoming a Slotforum+Plus member.

Hmm..... Let's see - model 956 Porsches finished third at Le Mans in 1982, 83, 84, and 1986.
1982 was a Rothmans car, but they also won, so I will discount that because you would have said it was a winning car. 1986 was the Spirit Of America car, so obviously it's not that.

That leaves the Kenwood liveried Kremer Porsche of 1983

......or the Skoal Bandit Porsche of 1984

Kremer is my guess, but I will be happy with either!
