Hello,

Following a bit of a prompt from Scott on the NNRC thread I've started another thread. Its just to cover my scratch building projects although anybody else is welcome to join in of course.

I WILL CONTINUE TO POST ON THE nnrc THREAD AS WELL.

At the moment I have a Ford F3L P68 on the go and have just received through the post an Airfix E Type Jaguar and VW Beetle. The Jag is going to be turned in the Bob Tullius Group 44 version. I know Top Slot produce this but I fancy the challenge. The Beetle is going to be turned into a Uniroyal Fun Cup Endurance racer which are based on a modified Beetle bodyshell but sitting on a single seater racing chassis. Look them up on www.uniroyalfuncup.co.uk is you want to know more.

I intend to use the Scalextric Sport Tuning range which is why I wanted to see how zxr400er's Ferrari 156 went with the little F1 motor in it. The Airfix Beetle is smaller than I imagined it would be so I think the F1 motor will be quite suitable.

Hello, long time no see.

Firstly reuben, still on for sunday offroading?

Sorry to see about your accident nick, hope the bikes all sorted now, here's my bike...

I bought it back off the bloke I sold it to for £500 and am now breaking it (along with that 205) for spares

Sorry for the massive pictures but they are already uploaded and I can't be bothered to resize them.

Hello zxr400er

MASSIVE isn't the word. So your're into the scrapping business then!

My solicitors sent me a letter the other day saying my bike was beyond economical repair and offered me something like £2200 assuming I got about £350 for scrapping it. At the moment I'm exploring whether to get it fixed or buying a Honda Super Blackbird
.

Come back and race, we need someone to harangue.

If you can buy it back from the insurance company and don't want the hassle of breaking it let me know and I'll buy it off you.

And now you're rich as well.
I might have to consider that, I'm waiting on a letter from my Insurance solicitors.

After speaking to some people it seems driving without a windscreen in a suzuki is common practice, but leaving the window up is not
definatly need more power seems to fix everything!
also highlighted some areas which need a little work!

Like my driving skills

Was fine the whole day ran sweet! Dan even let me drive again.

It's in my garage now, will strip it down tomorrow and have a look at what needs doing. It's really not that bad to be honest.

This is all very interesting lads, but isn't this forum supposed to be about slot car scratch building products?

Peter
Hello Peter

You have one of those Hobbycraft HRS type chassis from Slot32. Do you have any experience with it yet?

Nick
Hi Nick,

I have fitted it to a saloon body (Ninco Mitsubishi evo VIII) and tested it briefly. It seems very fast and smooth, also very hard to de-slot! The acid test will be tonight when I race it in Manor Farm's open saloon class.

Peter
Pressbutton,

Cheers for that info
. I'm keen to enter into the Global Proxy Race series and I'm exploring all the chassis options for my MRRC Porsche 936 bodyshell. I read a post in another thread which seems to imply that the Slot.It HRS chassis is a tight fit. As the Hobbyslot is a clone of that chassis I presume it would have similar problems but it is cheaper. Mind you I have to weigh up Slot 32's postage against Pendle's 10% discount.

I can see that it would be. The HRS chassis is thicker than the standard Slot-it in the area between the front axle and the motor pod. The interior will foul the chassis at this point, so you may need to fit a GOM lightweight interior.

Hello Mr M

Your Ford Escort bodyshell is almost finished but I have a slight problem with the interior. At the moment I have painted the interior black and the driver racing overalls and helmets matt white as there are no details for them that I can find. I imagine the racing overalls were white but do you have any information on the helmets colours? If not do you have any preference?

I have given up with trying to sort the Porsche 936 bodyshell you gave me for the GPR series so I've adapted my Scalextric Ferrari P4 instead, which is now yellow and has "Camel" sponsorship on it. The trouble with the Porsche 936 was I couldn't find a chassis to replace the original Johnson motor mounts and for some reason the decal paper I am using doesn't want to play either
. My decal design prints out on ordinary paper OK but is very washed out on the decal paper as if its dried out. Perhaps it is. All a bit frustrating as you can imagine and I will have to get some new stuff. The end result of all this is, do you want your Porsche bodyshell back? It is now a plain gloss white.

You may have to remind me of the cars pedigree, Nick!
Toivenen, Vatinen or someone elsenen? I have a friend whose owned several RS1800s and would probably have reference material available of whoever it is.

You can keep the Porsche. If it's any help, I could probably come up with a set of original running gear for it, but the tyres would be rock hard!

Hello Mr.M

It is the Mikkola/Hertz Monte Carlo of 1979.

On the Pendles site their picture shows the crew wearing a very fetching blue ensemble but I can't quite make out their crash helmets. I have done a google image search but I've yet to find a useful picture of the crew in action.

Thanks for the Porsche 936 and if you can find the running gear that would be appreciated although I have to be honest and say the FRONT axle is prefered as that is probably a steering unit. I'm going to have a bash at rebuilding one of my Johnson motors. If needs be I'll mate that to a replacement rear axle and hubs although I would then have to run it in an open class.
