DiSCA and DHORC are pleased to announce the Oxigen 3 hours of Sebring to take place on Sunday 31st October, 2021, at the RRLA, Derby, UK.

Green Leisure Indoor games and sports Engineering Recreation

Event Information
The venue is the home of Derby HO Racing club, who have recently expanded their activity to include 1/32 digital racing. Their Sebring layout will be recreated in Ninco, powered by Oxigen, for a 3 hour endurance event for DiSCA GT4 and TC spec cars. Cars will be split into the following categories;

GT4 Pro - Any GT car* from the listed manufacturers, inline motor, using either original chassis or optional 3DP chassis, with tuning parts allowed

GT4 Am - Any GT car* from the listed manufacturers, inline configuration, using only original chassis and original components

Touring Car - Contemporary touring cars from the listed manufacturers, inline motor, original chassis, tuning parts allowed

Only cars from the following manufacturers are allowed;
Hornby Scalextric
SCX
Carrera
Policar

* Ford GT will not be accepted in any category.

The Oxigen wireless digital system will require teams to fit a Type C or B2 oxigen in car chip to their cars, and use a Slotit SCP1/2/3 hand controller.

Schedule (approximate)
09:00 Doors open / Free Practice.
10:30 Handout parts are issued
11:00 Qualifying Session. All cars on track.
11:30 Track Closed. Technical Inspection / Lunch
12:30 Warmup
12:35 Green Flag
15:35 Chequered Flag

We are aiming for a more relaxed feel to this meeting and timekeeping will not be so strict as with other DiSCA events. Therefore, timings given are approximations.

Firmware updates will be available in downtime, but please try to arrive with the correct versions. Latest versions will be clarified nearer the race date.

Registration
We are placing a soft limit of 9 entries, for teams of two or three drivers. In the case of exceptional demand we may look at expanding the layout to four lanes in order to accommodate a larger grid. Registration must be made online using the Google Form.

Entry fee is £15 per team and must be prepayed in full, using PayPal to [email protected].

We hope to see you trackside for some Floridian style fun!

Love the scalex BMW 330i.
Hi all

We've seven registered teams so far.;

Garage 27 - PRO
Rock Stars - PRO
Rockingham - PRO
Quorn Stars - PRO

Skipp / Sleight - TC

Worthing Digital - TBC
DHORC - TBC

We've also a loose driver so if there are any individuals who fancy it please register your interest. You won't need any equipment of your own. If we can get to eight / nine cars I think we can have a great event!

Eight teams now, with a potential ninth on the way..
Question for all;
Regarding driving positions, DiSCA has always required a “tethered” controller taking power from a hard wired power supply. The track layout and room layout of DHORC isn’t necessarily conducive to this.
How many people have either SCP3 controllers, or battery packs for SCP1/2 controllers, and would be willing to race wirelessly for this event?
We will not force everyone to go out and purchase battery solutions but it would make things easier. If this seems unsuitable we’ll devise a wired solution.
Please post your feedback. Thanks!

Update;

Nick Wade and I, together with help from Nik Kerswill and Sean Illet, have conducted some testing of handout parts.

Tyres for the event will be PT35 C1. The grip level is adequate for these slower cars, although they do benefit from cleaning up more than other tyres such as the N18, which tended to clean themselves. We tried some stickier tyres but the cars tended to bog down due to their lower power outputs. The C1 is pretty forgiving and gives decent visual feedback by sliding gently on breakaway, which should make it easy to handle for newcomers. Teams will be given a single pair of tyres for the day.

Motors will be a double-shaft s-can, approx 20k rpm, provided by Pendle Slot Racing.

Awards; there will be an award for the overall winning team, and an award for the best performing rookie of the day. A rookie will be classified as somebody who has not participated in a DiSCA organised race before. As things stand, currently registered rookies are Paul Sleight, Jeremy Belcher, Nick Sismey, Phil Rees, John Lamb. There may be one more team competing, which if it does so, I am lead to believe will also contain a rookie driver.

There are currently eight teams, in addition to the above, Alex Jones will race with Nick Sismey.

Regarding the driver station situation, based on people's feedback we will probably end up with some combination of tethered and wireless drivers.

Hi Gary, will the non tethered/wireless drivers be required to stand in a designated position as tethered drivers will have to? I'm sure you'll understand that just because someone may have a wireless controller they shouldn't be walking around "because they can", it would be very distracting.
Cheers.
Nik.

Hi Nik, I don’t foresee any issues as with wireless driving I’ve previously participated in people tend to stick to their spot anyway, in the same way that most people don’t want to change rostrum positions even when given the chance in events like DiSCA GT3. But yes, drivers will be required to “stay put”, no self-marshalling or wandering about.

Here you go Gio,
Built on 19 Aug, Was my std Scalextric class car for Oxford SC. Changed the braid and all the tyres
Chucked mag at the metal plate for chassis straightening. This hasn't been done as was acceptable.
Removed the little connector for the DPR chip on the trap door to allow fitment of o2 chip.
Not tested at all until after the Stanbrough 4hr a couple of weeks ago. Did about 10 laps seemed to work OK :)

Quick question, does the venue afford space for pit tables and access to a mains socket for the soldering iron etc?
Hi Wayne, there will be pit tables and mains power available.

Thanks Gio! I hope it’s a good one
