oXigen LC driver

Could someone knowledgeable please enlighten me?

oXigen offers LC drivers for Ninco digital track pieces. As far as I understand it, oXigen uses the SSD-protocol to trigger the LC. Am I correct to assume that with oXigen LC drivers and using a Scalextric PB or ARC Pro (and two adapter tracks) a Ninco track could be converted to SSD?

I do not understand why you need the scalex PB or Arc Pro when you are embedding the oxigen LC in the track (whatever brand).

Also I am not sure that oxigen is using the SSD protocol as such because an oxigen LC can be programmed to only accept commands to change lane in a specific direction (left or right) using one of the two dedicated buttons in the controller. As far as I know, oxigen is the only system out there that have dedicated commands and buttons on the controller to change lane for specific direction. This is particular useful in case you have sequences of lane changers to guide cars to a specific direction (such as from the main track to the pitlane).

SSD lane changers cannot differentiate between a left or right lane change command.

So, if you have a ninco track with digital pieces and you are changing the internals with LC oxigen boards, you do not need any scalex component.

Just plug your power supply to power the track lanes, get some oxigen chips, controller and a dongle and you are ready to go.

Have you read the oxigen manual? Lots of good info there too.

I'm thinking he wants to use SSD on Ninco track, and is thinking the easiest way to make SSD compatible Ninco lane changers is to put oXigen boards under them. I'm not sure if they work like that, though. I'd have to re-read through the LC installation manual for the configuration options.
As you said, MrFlippant, the idea is to use SSD on Ninco track. The possibility came to my mind while reading the oXigen-Manual and the installation instructions for the LC drivers.

For the moment it is just a theoretical question, but I have quite a few cars converted to SSD and am quite happy with ARC Pro but wouldn't mind to have the opportunity to run them on Ninco track without too much ado.
I see. Seeing the post here I thought that you wanted to convert the ninco track to oxigen. I missed the last sentence of your post.

They do. If you want to run SSD on Ninco track using o2 drivers, then you can.

If you really want to boot and braces the install, you could power the LC drivers separately to the track, seeing as they're designed to run off DC. However I seem to remember finding out that this wasn't strictly necessary.

It is correct.

Our LCs recognize both the native SSD protocol and our own variant that differentiates between left and right.

You should be able to power the O2 LCs directly from SSD powered track, too.
