Hey There!

Wednesdays have been a bit of an off night for me recently. Work has meant I have not made it along to the Farnham club now for a month. Not good. However just because I have been missing out on club night does not mean I have been missing out on slots altogther.

I have spent rather more time in the loft than normal and now have a few regulars that come over for a spot of racing. Jamie you all know from these hallowed pages. Greg has pretty much stopped taking the mick now and enjoys the racing as much as anybody else. Stuart is my newest convert. He came along to the recent MK swapmeet with the intention of buying one or two cars. He came away with five and wanted to buy more. His shopping list included a Fly Viper, SCX Skoda Fabia, Scalextric Corvette, SCX Dome and a Fly Lancia Beta. The magnets were immediately removed from the Scalextric 'Vette and SCX Skoda for some tail out fun. The Viper needs some time from myself to get running smoothly and the SCX has become a shelf queen for the time being.

Anyway, with all the extra people coming over and commenting on how cool the scenery looks I thought it was about time I finished it off. The last week and a half has seen me busy filling in the empty spaces and also gaining a complete Scalextric accessory pack. This now means I have a Dunlop and Goodyear bridge as well as another Grandstand to fill with people. The secenery is now nearly completed and I am rather pleased with how it has come along. I am now itching to do a new video along the lines of my previous Cobra effort. There will be a difference this time though. This time it will be man against machine. Jamie will be taking on Challenger and everybody gets to see the results. Watch this space.

At Milton Keynes my main purchases were a Slot.It Porsche 956 and a Black Challenger. I have to say that I think Challenger is rather good. Certainly not unbeatable but rather good none the less. Running it with slick tyres on the fastest Classic mode gives me some damn good fun with Ninco NC1 McLaren GTRs. Thanks to the excellent advise featured here I have found it doesn't deslot very often even when running it in classic mode on Sport track.

Wow! What a fantastic car the new Slot.It release is. Straight out of the it was quick and by the time I fitted a pair of PPR silicons it was lapping with ease at the 6.8 second mark (track record is 6.018 to a Fly Viper). This Friday I decided it was time for a bit of tuning. I swapped the motor mount for a reverse inline one and added a standard magnet in both positions. This gave me one hot, stuck down momma. Within three laps I had broken the holy grail of six seconds and within another five managed 5.792. Fastest time so far is a rather cool 5.638! Nice.

This is a truly great hobby and I would like to thank everybody who has helped me get so involved with it. This forum, SCI, the NSCC, the Farnham Club and many others. Have fun everybody, it's going to be a great year to be involved in the world of slotcar racing.

Cheers,

Julian.

Hey Julian, if it wasn't for you this forum wouldn't be here.

Great track - we're going to have to add it to the member's tracks section. You need some spot lights for a full photo shoot. Bring some home from work

Looking forward to the video.

Looks great.

It would be great with some more pics and then put it on resources.

And how about if some-one could put more of members cars / scratchbuilt etc also on resources - there have been so many great pictures in this forum - a shame they often end up being really difficult to find after a while...

Some of the pictures of track projects would also be great to put on resources...

Hey there!

Thanks for the kind words fellas. I shall take a whole raft of pictures once it is finished and would be honoured to have it in the resources.

Nuro - Thank you for the very kind words, I don't believe a word of it but thanks none the less

By the way if anbody ever fancies a trip down to Surrey you are more than welcome to pop up into the loft for a Friday night's racing. The loft really can't handle more than four at a time but there is always the Farnham club otherwise.

Cheers,

Julian.
