I'm just in the process of doing mine, Keith. I washed the lot down with Prepsol.

Seeing it in white undercoat/primer is a little bit scarey.

Hi Ember

Thanks for the info, unfortunatly Prepsol seems to be hard to find in UK from what I can see on Google. Going to try a local paint supplier and see what the do as I also want to get some tack-rags. If not Halfords (UK national Autopart warehouse) do a preparation spray that seems similar and some pre treated cloths. I'm a little worried as a lot of my track is secondhand and I don't know how much use it has had and how much rubber I've got to remove.

Don't want to use anything to volitile, small shed not through ventilation and freeze in corner.
One spark and it could be no shed
or no beard
.
That's why I wanted to see what other people used otherwise I would have gone for white spirits.

White spirits will do the job eventually but you'll probably need to do it several times. The thing about using a solvent is that it dissolves the oil etc, rather than just spreading it.
