Yes,one wheel,2 wheels,3 or 4 wheels.It steers merrily along.It is really cool to take the body off,and drive it slowly round the track.It steers with amazing accuracy,and responds instantly to very small changes in direction.

Sorry,as I didn't hear back from you,I sold it off cheap for 50P.

This chassis with a pittman 196B and slightly different guide arrangement is at the Marconi as we speak,heavily disquised as a 300SL Gullwing.Complete with handpainted Meatballs and numbers(I'll never do that again)
