It was reported last week that Sir Peter Ustinov had died in his home in Switzerland at the age of 82.

His parody of racing, "The Grand Prix of Gibraltar" is a devastatingly funny and memorable piece of work. I have heard that the recording has been reissued in CD format.

Looking outside of my parochial interests, I am moved to say that he was a remarkable individual of many talents and the world is poorer for his passing.

And didn't know he had done a parody of GP racing.... will look out for it.

Totally agree EM, and you said it so much better than I could have. He was one of the few truly great talents.

It was sad news indeed!

I can remember as a very young lad being enthralled by this old (to me at the time, anyway) guy on Parkinson who had this fantastic ability to mesmerise the audience with his wonderful story telling.

Scott leant me the GP of Gibraltar CD recently and it is fantastic. The entire cast of characters and all the wonderful sound effects are simply Ustinov and a microphone. A true genius!
