QUOTE (CoolScientist @ 10 Nov 2004, 11:42)If you dont want all that hassle, then source a smaller engine. Renault 5 GT turbo engines are a little rare on the scene now, (its exactly the same engine a 205 1.4 XS or a citroen AX 1.4), with a turbo and a bit more wiring.
Keep us updated on how you get on.

Sorry, couldn't let that one by.

Totally wrong!

The 5 Turbo is an overhead valve Renault only (unless you count Dacia
) unit. Absolutely nothing like the TU Peugeot/Citroen lump!

Didn't want anybody spending money un-necessarily!

QUOTE (Mr Croker @ 10 Nov 2004, 17:59)It is different as it uses pushrods from the cam

but it was found orginally was a Volvo lump from the 340-360 range.

Thank you Mr.C, I knew there was something else that the Renault unit was fitted to, but it didn't come to me at the time
At the risk of sounding pedantic (
too late) the 360 had the 2-litre OHC Volvo unit!

Oh Dear!

It's me again!

Sorry Coop, the 1.7 was a Renault motor too, as fitted to 5, 9, 11, 21 and even Trafic vans, just a larger capacity, slightly more modern unit i.e. OHC with rubber toothed timing belt drive.
