Apologies as I'm sure this must have been answered many times previously but for the life of me I can't find search terms that return a suitable result.

Could somebody please tell me what the OEM Wire Gauge is thats used on the flexible wire connecting the pick up brushes/shoes to the motor terminals, on a standard scalextric car such as the super resistant porsche boxters. As I need to fit a few replacements.

Thanks in advance.

It's 25awg silicone coated.
I've never been able to find reels of it, but Scalextric sell lengths of it in a pack as spares.

They're certainly suitable, but I don't know if they would be as flexible as the silicone stuff - thats what I've had trouble locating.
I guess you'd have to order some to find out.
If the ptfe stuff is like the plumbing tape, then in theory, it should be quite flexible.

Thanks Robb,

I thought the same about the plumbing tape too

Not sure I'm ever going to use up 30m of the stuff though particularly if I want 2 colours.... still I wonder if they'd do a couple of samples.

I might buy a reel, check it out, and if suitable cut it up and flogg the excess on a well known auction site for other enthusiasts. On the other hand I could just pay for the overpriced scalextric spare you mentioned previously.

Anyway thanks for taking the time to respond much appreciated (U 2 rick).
