My new Pink Kar Ferrari arrived this morning and it's a very impressive little car.

I won't get chance to try it until tomorrow but a couple of things didn't impress me on initial inspection.

The rear wheels are spaced way out side the body limits, very good foor handling I'm sure, but it tends to ruin the appearence. This will need attention to bring about a more scale appearence.

The decals used look rather "old fasioned", i.e. they are very thick and don't look as tho' they would stand up to much abuse.

The front spotlights seem secured fairly well so they should stay in place, (I was a little worried about their vulnerability!)

My verdict?......Nice little car could be a lot better.

I've had one of the previous GTOs for a couple of years and would have to agree with your findings. I haven't got round to running mine yet but I know it has a slightly warped crown wheel and the wheels are badly mounted too. I just haven't done anything about it yet - a gentleman takes his time, you know!

But Pink Kar is currently the only way to get one of these gorgeous bodies at a sensible price and I am not unhappy with my purchase. It's just a shame they don't get their act together and cure these little details.

Quality COULD be a little better on those latest ones I agree, but remember it was a Rally Car if memory serves, so the wheel track might have been increased.
I did hear a little gossip in Spain last month, that the designer was not too happy with the outcome of this particular rendition as well, so maybe it is just a hitch in the series?

Thats interesting information Swiss, but even tho' it is a Rally version the 1:1 Rules have Never allowed for wheels to be be outside of the bodywork.

I still think it is a great looking model and with a little work will look even better!.

They are GORGEOUS cars and not too hard to sort out. But it is such a pity that Pink Kar don't make them right in the first place because, with cars like this, just a little more attention to quality could drag them into 'must have' territory.

Not sure about the latest editions, but the old ones go great if you pop out the little motor that comes with it, put in an RX4 or RX41, ninco guide flag and true the tyres, result great fun!

If you are willing to repaint and add detail yourself, you can find Revell 250s on eBay fairly cheaply. These cars were made in the thousands, both in kit form and as RTRs for nearly all Revell racing sets. They are very similar (perhaps better than) the Pink Kar version, but are definitely not rare or highly sought after.

Beejay1 - I didn't know that about Rally cars but it makes sense, I guess they added flaired arches at times?
I always (for some reason) equate early Rally cars with wide wheel bases for some reason - no clue why!

I have one on Order from Pendles and thought about realigning the wheel base. I have one other with the 'power plus' motor in it, this also runs well alongside the GTO Breadvan that has the same chassis/motor set up.

The first issue of Model Car Racing edited by Bob Schleicher (of Slot Car Bible fame) had an article comparing the Revell Ferrari to the Pink Kar version. I have a couple of these in their vintage glory awaiting paint and running gear. The kit versions with adjustable chassis will still run very nicely (right, Al?) if you give them some new rubber.

Absoposolutely!My own Revell 250 GTO did quite well against 80%of the Marconi non mag cars,and even bested some of the mag entries at last years Marconi,despite being built in a bout 1964,and haveng a mid Fifties Train motor for power.

The Revell body is a little nicer than the Pink Car one,and can be had almost every day on Epay for about 20-40 bucks

I think that is Pink Kar's tag line. Odd that we cut them so much slack really, when you think of what we expect from the other players in the slot manufacturing game.
