I had a guide blade tear the sensor chip off of my pit lane game. I found the chip and was able to solder it back onto the circuit board but it still is not working. I checked and there is no continuity accross the chip, does anyone know if this is normal for an IR sensor? It could be a bad solder on one side as it is so small and very hard to work with. Also does it matter which wire goes to which side of the chip?

If I need to just replace it, I found a thread from a year ago that said the part to get was SDP8436. Is that still the right part?
