Hi Everyone!

I have a quick question about plastic primer. I am building a Rover P6 (very slowly!!). I have bought the BRG paint. The paint requires a grey primer but I currently only have white primer in the shed. Is it possible to use the white primer or is it worth it to get the grey primer? I asked when I bought the paint but the store staff couldn't help.

Many thanks

Matthew

Different primer colours (white, grey or black) will affect the tone of the top colour. I would have thought that grey was best for BRG - a white undercoat would perhaps make the final colour slightly lighter. It really depends on how fussy you are going to be about the final result. You could always try spraying a bit of spare plastic to see if you are satisfied with the result.

The plastic primer I have and have used is clear. Then put the conventional grey or white primer on top of that.

i only ever use grey or white primer straight onto a shell (after a thorough clean) as the less paint you can get away with the less detail you will loose once finished. as suggested , have a trial shot of green over both primer colours to see which you prefer. after all we all have personal tastes in colour , brg being one that peole will always argue over!!
