hi all,

my first post in this area, and i need some help.

i am currently making a set of porsche 914-6 GT cars, which are all based on an old carrera 914 body. so far i have remodelled the bumpers for oil cooler intakes etc, got rid of the clunky removable roof and replaced it with a permanent, and of course added the flared GT wheelarches.

the original body was by no means perfect (its taken weeks just to correct the distortion) and my latest model which is to be the final 'master' has some surface scratches and blemishes.

what do i use to polish these out before the final mold is made?

thanks in advance

Marty,

I prime and then sand mine with 2000 grit. Afterwards, I polish it out with Novus - any polish will do. Here's a picture of my Camaro before going into the mold stage. Shines better than my 1:1 car...

Hope that helps, and I'd love to see the finished product!

Yes! Keep us posted.

I've always been a big fan of the underappreciated "VW-Porsche." Love those extreme "biceptual" rear wheel arches. Didn't the 914-6 finish 6th at LeMans and even higher at Nurburgring (1,2,3 I see after a quick search)? You can even see it in LeMans

I hadn't seen this little beastie before (this is my kind of exagerated small car - maybe my entry in next year's small car proxy?!) IMSA style:

Oh Yeah!

yep,

you can see the 'SONAUTO' 914-6 in the lemans film, looks kinda goofy though like the suspension is jacked up..... or maybe its just the other cars are so low

i will be making the sonauto, the moritz GT (green), the Brumos, and the Sunoco (after its repaint to yellow and orange), oh yeah and that nice orange Nurburgring winner!

they are all slightly different so it may take some time...

when i get a 'master' made up i will start a new string... those arches are a bugger!

regards

martin
