Porsche 904

I've been without a 904 for too long, which is why I jumped at the chance of building one when Frogeye fashioned this resin shell. Many regard Butzi's 1964 2-litre 4-cylinder 4-cam 2-seater as a styling masterpiece, and the car's results in competition speak for themselves.

A truly great all-rounder with success on the Monte, at Le Mans and elsewhere, it was also a most tractable road car for those who could stand the noise inside the cabin. Porsche's first GRP-bodied car, its influence among car designers is plain to see, even though the car marked something of the end of an era for Porsche.

After the 904 the Piech era began with a promise to take the company to the top. The 904 had a relatively brief career, but proved its worth from the off. The 904, therefore.

The brass and wire chassis that Brumos shows was in a proxy that came to my track for a round.. Inspite of the width of the car is was faster than most and came in about third out of twenty or so cars.
The Dennis Samson chassis no doubt helped with the results.

Can't recall accurately, Kev, but I think that was the '71 T de F.
For those inclined, there is also a nice 3DP file.

Gosh, three years, Michael. The same duration as the Covid crisis, or the length of studying for a first degree, and indeed the same timespan it takes to encourage Mrs Grumpy to revise her opinion about buying plants at local garden centres.

Time versus entropy, eh?

One of the greatest all-round sports cars, equally at home on any type of competition.

Not quite as 'all-round' as the XK120
Why? 904's results speak for 'emselves. The 904 was a a far superior car in every way.

Think I've posted this before but anyway, the list of cars running are in the closing credits.

The counts up to about fourteen in all scales now, only nine when I made this video, with I think three more MRRC body kits to build.

'Vintage' girder frame chassis was out of character but worked well.

904 with clear lacquer just brushed on. Looks a bit of a mess but might be different when it dries.

Looks "raced hard" for realism....
