Porsche 917/20 “Pink Pig” 3dp

I have always liked the famous “Pink Pig” or “Le Cochon Rose” , thought of making one with a Slot it white kit but then realized that the measurements were different and it just won’t work.

I also thought about buying the LM release, but USD$189+ taxes and shipping it just is a little too expensive , moreover if I run the risk of not getting the goods due to the shipping problems of the Covid era.

So, I was really lucky to find the @chappyman66 (great file mate btw😀) 3dp file in Cults so I downloaded it and printed it in resin for a smooth surface. My friend Mike Pérez painted it for me as I didn’t have the palid rose color at hand, but I did paint the motor and lights using some images from the web as reference.

As you can see, I added a little race effect, as it would be in Lemans😀

Then applied a coat of clear urethane with the airbrush and after it dryed applied the decals which were home made. This is the result after all the decals , it really looks promising and I can’t wait to finish the windshield and all the accessories of the body to put a chasis and race it!

Maybe it’s not perfect but I have spent around USD$21 bucks+$4 from the file! So at this price I think it’s unbeatable the 3dp option.

Will update as soon as posible , hope you all like it.😀

Cheers

If you know the right sizes it should be for 1/32 then simply adjust scaling in Lychee to suit.

917/20 spec -> 1971 Porsche 917/20 Specifications - Ultimatecarpage.com

So 1/32 width should be 69.1mm max overall width.

I'll have to save the stl to my laptop and do some 3D CAD and draw something to suit.

It's all about the details you desire.

You can do it in TinkerCAD in an hour or less. Mine is obviously flat to save weight up high, but it's not a detailed model.
Is there a chance that can be added to the bodyshell file? Would you be willing to let those of us who have bought the file have a copy of the stl of that rear...please 🙏

I know I have email but I've yet to download it to my pc as I've been away from the house...tomorrow I'll have a butchers at it and feedback on Cults when it's printed.
Many thanks buddy.

I added an oil cooler and coloured in 3DBuilder...

I also checked the thickness of the body at 1:32 whilst I was in 3DB and it's 0.75mm thick which is perfect.

I have added Kevan's lovely rear end version to the Cults download as he has kindly donated to the cause.
When I've got a chassis drawn up for it you can add that too.

Yep, I didn’t had luck either with the search tool.
I think Greg posted tongue-in-cheek as thingiverse is great at finding anything remotely unconnected to your search preference.

Thanks Greg.
Using an svg is by far the easiest way to create complex flat shapes, simple import and extrusion. If you want you could fillet the outer edges to round it off.

My first thought for using this....
I didn't use Gregs file but the .svg is the same. Mr Happy is on a stand that will fit into the control tower instead of the track name some people use.
