You lucky chap, Daniel. One of my favourite cars of all time. I must be one of the few people on the planet who doesn't regard the 'Pink Pig' as ugly. Since its public unveiling at the test weekend at Le Mans in April 1971, its swooping curves have always had great appeal.

Following this build with envy and excitement. Marvellous.

Will do, Daniel. It'll be a pleasure to get the Pig out again. Will try and do so later. Still in my Y-fronts at present with Mrs Grumpy giving me black looks. Got chums arriving at the midday trough, which I have to prep and cook.

First I have to find the communal feed bucket reserved for special occasions, and then start chopping meat and vegetables with a new knife. If I make it until 11am without drawing my own blood, I shall at least begin to imagine that things are going reasonably well. I remain hopeful but far from optimistic.

I'm just as excited about this build. The body and decals already look absolutely fabulous. Well done, Daniel. Oh, and when it's finished, a 356 in Pig livery would be nice. The little piggy of the Porsche fraternity...

Pigs are intelligent creatures who often make life difficult. Anyhow, this aside, I shall again toast the health of fools everywhere with a glass of Cote du Rhone Villages, which is my habit and the tradition of thousands down many decades at Le Mans. To your very good health and happiness, everyone.

I know a master model maker who, a few years ago, made a beautiful model of the Pink Pig but...

... he was such a perfectionist that he stripped it, twice, of its pink paint, because it just wasn't quite right. In frustration, he ended up contacting Porsche in Stuttgart, who, most happily, gave him the correct paint code for the car.

Paint was duly mixed and, at last, it was correct. It cost him a fortune but he was happy.

For years, Klaus Bischoff (a mechanic in 1971) blamed Reinhold Joest for the accident that forced the Pink Pig's retirement at Le Mans, 1971. Reinhold was adamant that the altercation was caused by a braking failure.

Happily, Reinhold was proved to be right. When the car was eventually restored, it was found to having a sticking rear brake caliper.

For those who don't like Pigs, there are always Bugs.

A 1:43 Pig I built years ago with a Kyosho chassis. Used to go well. A trifle heavy, though.

Forgot to mention that this 1:43-scale Pig has a die-cast body. Pictured below with other Porsches in the now defunct Kyosho range.

Having had a good look at the rear piece, Daniel, it could be easily made from scrap plastic. Wouldn't take long, either, as it's not complicated.

Excellent progress, Daniel. Nice solution to the guide prob, too. Having printed this body, it would be a pity not to build a second Pig in its original white livery, as used at the traditional April Le Mans test weekend. Just a thought.

Kevan's image above shows the uncluttered beauty of the Pig's body styling to perfection. To those who regard the car us ugly, I ask you to look again.

Having looked again at Kevan's image above, the two cars below immediately spring to mind. Interesting, to me, that all three cars shared a similar purpose originally.

Well done, Daniel. A fabulous model. I actually like it without wheel inserts. Nice chassis and running gear, too. Looks as though the Truffel Jaeger von Zuffenhausen is going to be a quick slot car. Very, very nice.

Now to build the white version, perhaps?

Ah, wonderful. A white version, too, Daniel. Great news. Your paddock is growing at a very healthy rate. Look forward to reading your track report on the new pink car. It really does look wonderful. My congratulations.
