Controller sub forum - any interest?
Should we add a sub forum for discussion of hand controllers?

Probably.

Those that have bothered to vote seem to offer fair majority for doing it though.
On the GT Raceways sub forum there is a Controller thread that has been running for the last 8 years with 90K views and numerous contributions from myself and others, I would think that alone would give justification for a controller sub forum.

OK, some more questions for you before I proceed with this:

Where should controller forum go - sub forum of 'slot racing and tuning' or stand alone?

Analogue and digital controllers together or separate sections?

If separate where should the digital one go?

If separate how would you cope with dual use ones such as Scorpius?

Controller thread mentioned above in GT Raceway forum- leave it where it is or move it to new forum?

Anybody wiling to trawl multiple threads for me and find the ones that need transferring to the new forum(s)?

Anybody prepared to do a comprehensive objective review of their particular controller that I could pin as a guide to people trying to choose one?

Just my thoughts....

A stand-alone main heading for Controllers then 3 sub-headings for Analogue Only, Digital Only and Dual Use

I thought these may be simple and self explanatory. The controller thread in GT Raceways could then be moved to the appropriate section.

I agree with Longdog as this should be the way to set out the sub forum

Boggy
For the GT Raceways controller thread would suggest that it is left intact in its current position and I will contribute a new thread in the Analogue controller sub forum with the best bits in a series of posts if that helps.

Seems logical.

I don't mind having a go Brian although I am not the best at searching. Failing anyone more qualified..........
There's a wealth of information in the GT Raceways sub forum controller thread, as the main contributor would like it left where it is how about a pinned link from the new controller forum?

Perhaps more than one person contributing to searching for existing threads to be transferred would be good. Nobody can be expected to search everything perfectly, but with a few people searching we should pick up the most important threads. I'm happy to have a go at the analogue controller threads.

That sounds logical enough to me.

If you start a digital throttles thread then I'll pin it in the digital area...
Why not a seperate section totally with sub sections. Resistor, electronic, wireless and those not sure.

Over the next month or two, I will be changing over from my old favourite MRRCs to a Truspeed. Not only will I have to change to something adjustable but will have to abandon a lifetime's use of the thumb!

Might make an interesting subject.

Depends how you hold it....think guitar.

Yeah tried that but found it awkward

I have to use the DS 25ohm I have for the RTRs. They are a bit skittish on 5!! I think the fact that the trigger works on a curve rather than straight up and down puts me off. I certainly find the action feels wrong. By using the middle finger rather than the forefinger, I found, after most of the eight sections of the race at Bordo were over, I was beginning to get the hang of it...a bit late!

As far as the guitar is concerned, I have a terribly correct, classical action whereby the thumb goes straight up and down

ah well, I tried to help.

I have seen a guy drive while cradling the trigger controller in his left arm and thumbing the trigger with his right hand.

I use my middle finger on the trigger too as the forefinger lacks sensitivity due to an injury long ago.

I use the middle finger as I have somewhat large hands and the way the controller fits my hand puts the forefinger too far up the body of the thing.

Problems problems

I suppose we ought to be careful about talking about the middle finger

Munter...
Well we wont go into that will we ?😊

I go back to the days of thumb controllers, when I got back into 1/24th commercial track racing in 1991 my controllers were not the right value for modern cars. I could not get used to trigger controllers, so I turn those around and use my thumb on the trigger.

OK, I will set this up in the near future. Initially it will be analogue controllers only with digital to follow on once I have done some more research.

Meanwhile, if you have time on your hands then find the topics that need transferring over and send me a clickable link to them, either by PM or posted here.
