Practice Best Lap Audio Prefix

Hi folks,

Getting the following error when I try to mess with this setting under the Expert Race Setup screens:

---------------------------
Parameter Error
---------------------------
Practice Best Lap
data\audio\driveby.wav1.wav
File not found or invalid Character. The audio resource can not contain any 'special' characters such as [< (less than), > (greater than), : (colon), " (double quote), / (forward slash), \ (backslash), | (vertical bar or pipe), ? (question mark), * (asterisk)]
---------------------------
OK
---------------------------

Trying to select the driveby.wav file but app is inserting ".wav1" into the mix.

Anybody else having this issue?

Thanks.

What's happening is you have the file name wrong (a guess). I'm assuming "data\audio\driveby.wav1.wav" does not exist and it should probably be "data\audio\driveby.wav". When RC can't find the wav file it assumes you want text to speech, but you have illegal characters for the text to speech to work so it puts up that error and prevents you from creating the new race and/or updating the existing one.
Dave, you're incredible! Unfortunately, it seems to be appending .wav1 to whatever I put in there.

I'm not real clear on this screen though, isn't "Practice Best Lap Audio Prefix" just the path to the files? Not sure what these choices are...
Interesting. Single click the file name and manually remove the .wav1. I'll have to look into why it's putting that on there, but you should be able to manually remove it.
I've tried all sorts to trick RC into accepting the errant wav files but no go. I was sent a load of new custom audio files to try and some work very easily but others have this problem.

I've tried creating a new folder and moving the items there, tried renaming them with shorter titles, tried deleting the extra wav in the title when RC has it in the audio import window, etc.

It's not a show stopper for me as I can live without some or all of these new custom files, they were just something to play with (all my own still work) but it's a bit baffling.
All the audio files I sent over work perfectly for me Doug but I am not using the latest version of RC. Still on 1.10 - if it ain't broke.................!
It's a strange one. Some work, some don't - and it may well be the version number as I'm sure I had this issue on another upgrade, which went away at a subsequent Beta - but I could be wrong?
I took a really quick shot at reproducing this and couldn't. Which option in the Expert Race Setup are we looking at and which version are you running? I'm using the latest version so maybe this has been fixed???
Hi Dave,

Was messing with this last night and didn't run into the reported problem. I think it happens when you don't put a valid prefix path in the "Practice Best Lap Audio Prefix" field. I'm using the latest v1.12.1.0.

A bit confusing since it's in a Race Setup screen and you're not practicing.

Steve
Practice is a type of race. That's why it's there. I suspect RC would be easier to use if I had raced for a few years with some group. My terminology definately doesn't line up with at least some of the community.

Okay, I get it now. So it only works if you select practice as the Heat Setup? Make sense that way, I guess.

RC is a bit more complex than some of the other systems, but mostly that's because it has many more features and capabilities.
It doesn't help that what I call a heat is what most people call a race. And then I go and use race to mean a collection of heats. In my head it makes perfect sense but I'm butting up against language/terms that have been used by the community for years.
Bizarre - but fixed.

I deleted all the custom audio folders from my test machine, OTHER than the one with the Murray-ism's in, then copied and loaded the working versions back in from the production laptop and - VOILA, all working again.

I didn't do ANYTHING to the Murray folder but it just worked with no issues when I fired up the test version of RC again.
