I am very proud to announce that Salvatore and Giovani from NSR in Italy are visiting Presto Park on Friday 18th May (Friday week.) They will be at the Gaydon Slot Festival the day after. Ken from Norwich Slot Racing has kindly offered to help run the event which is a joint venture with NSR (Norwich) and will be open to all clubs both in Norfolk and everywhere else in the UK.

I have thought that the best class of car to run that night will be NSR Sports/Gt cars with a maximum motor limit of 25k and all of the remaining parts on the car must be from NSR. That way Salvatore and Giovani will be at hand to offer help and advice re their cars should anyone have a technical querry and they can see their cars performance on a wooden track.

The new Presto club room can cater for 30 drivers, so if you want to come along please book in ASAP via Slot Forum.

Let's make this an enjoyable evening to welcome Salvatore and Giovani to the UK slot scene.

There will be bacon rolls, burgers and hot and cold drinks available on the evening.

Race fees will be £6 our usual race fee price.

Really hope you can make it. Thanks. Mike

At the moment. Presto is the only confirmed visit by Salvatore & Giovanni. The origional plans for a wider 'tour' have been held for the moment, as Salvatores wife had a serious fall and broke her leg. Obviously, until Salvatore is confident she can manage on her own for a week he is reluctant to commit to the additional days in the UK.
QUOTE Sorry Mike I can,t make Friday. Proberbly the worst day they could have picked for Norfolk with two clubs racing that night.
With respect, the visit is not exclusive to Presto Park drivers and is an open invite to all clubs in the area. If you already race on friday, surely it wouldn't be too inconvenient to reschedule & take this opportunity to meet up with NSR.

QUOTE N.B. From what I read about this, I was under the impression that Salvatore and Giovanni were going to bring there own cars for people to race??
NSR will be bringing a set of cars to demo / race. I'm sure this can be integrated in to what ever else Mike has in mind.

As soon as NSR confirm wether or not the tour will be extended i will confirm on the origional NSR on tour thread.

That's probably put them off coming completely, Mike!

Surely you should be serving a traditional Italian-style antipasto, followed by a Lombard brasato di maiale secondo and finish it off with panna cotta? Or if they want to sample the delights of traditional British cuisine, then chicken tikka masala, followed by a pint, of course?

Kind regards,

Russell

Hi Russell. Averil says "Whatever"
and are we expecting a demonstration by the antipasto group. I thought all Italians liked pasta.

When we see you in October you must show Averil your culinary skills as she don't do 'cooking'.

Hi Mike,

I will be there Friday evening and looking forward to it. I have left a message on your home phone; just in case you do not pick it up. Can you bring some flyers with you Wednesday evening as I have an interested customer.

Regards

PS now you tell us that Avril's cooking skills are not up to scratch. I've been eating her hot burgers for the last year!!!!!!!

Great night tonight with 16 people attending to greet Salvatore and Giovani to Presto Park, their first visit to Norfolk.

Salvatore was immediately quick in the practise session and smashed the existing lap record almost immediately after completing only a few laps. Likewise Giovani was also quick and both the NSR guys adjusted well to the new wooden Presto track.

There was a mixed bag of heat race winners tonight with Salvatore finishing second in the B final. Giovani qualified for the A final and achieved a creditable second place also. The A final was won by Alex with a new lap record of 6.308 secs in green lane,
laying down the gauntlet for next Wednesdays Pro Sports/Gt club night.

I must thank Salvatore and Giovani for travelling to the depths of Norfolk from Stansted and giving excellent advice to our members and in particular to our Junior members who too benefited greatly from meeting these guys and asking them questions.

Have a safe journey to Gaydon Salvatore and Giovani and we will see you again later this year. Mike

Viv, excellent video - a budding Spielberg?!
It really shows off the track.
It also shows off the scenery (I had to say that for Mike!
).

It also showed that even World Champions are happy to take their turn at marshalling.
Something, perhaps, for all members to make a note of.

They were both very friendly and helpful and a pleasure to meet and drive against. Not sure what they thought of the Norfolk pronounciation of their names though!

Yes Peter they did well to understand the Norfolk dialect. However, when i shouted to Salvatore and Giovani "Presto Presto" they knew what i meant. Presto is the only Italian word i know.
Great video by Viv and i think it captured the evening well. Mike
