Lower than normal attendance tonight owing to the fact most of our Junior members restarted school today and needed their beauty sleep and other Senior members were taking a late holiday to avoid the kids at the seaside. Still 15 members raced with some close races and most members now seem to be getting used to the new track layout and its grip levels.

The results of tonight's finals were as follows:-

JIM 25 PTS

ALAN 23

ANDY 21

KEN 20

JOHN P 19

MARK 17

ALEX 16

GRANT 15

ROGER 14

RICHARD 13

JAMES 12

LAUREN 11

ROY 10

SHAUN 9

Next week sees the return of Pro Sports/Gt round 6 - hope you can all make it. Mike

JP, you (and everyone) are welcome. The expectation of 15 keen drivers to use my track was overwhelming - I couldn't have concentrated on my driving which is why I didn't drive.

Glad you're enjoying the track - I'll take that as a compliment from a fussy old bu££er!

The lap counting will be up and running again by next week - just need to find the problem and fix it!

I wish I could make the track bigger for next week as I think the Pro GT's will be bit 'squirt and swerve'. It should be interesting to see who gears their car the best and has the most nerve to drive the '270 sweeper' curve the fastest - might see some driftin'!

After 2 lots of dropped screws last night there will DEFINITELY be screw-tineering next week - I was a bit distracted last night

I would add my thanks to Peter for giving up his evening to run the racing last night.

The track itself has everything as it is. It is not too difficult to learn but is nevertheless remarkably challenging. It doesn't need a long straight - races are won in the corners and the straights are merely the way to get from one corner to the next.

Also; a note of thanks to Mike. He, and just a few members, must have been working like dogs to have transformed the new premises into a really nice clubhouse and certainly "The Premier Slot Club in Norfolk".

Alan,
I think Mike's sign says 'Norfolk's Premier Scalextric Club' but anyway without getting into a p***ing contest, there are five clubs in Norfolk, all with their own merits, and unless you visit them all I don't know how you can compare....

The new Presto is going to be a great facility and as a regular racer there I can't wait to try out the new track, good as Peter's is...

Hi JP. Nice to see you back at Presto and enjoying the circuit. By the time the new circuit is finished the cafe will be upgraded to a 'Premier' one and you will be getting more than a cup of tea.
The 'wink and Love You' last night has put you on the right road with Mrs H. See you next week. Mike

Lap counting fixed!

As I suspected, it was just a loose connection which took me 5 minutes to find and put right, plus 45 minutes to take out the section of track and 45 minutes to put back again. I very much doubt if I would have been able to spot it so easily on race night as I would have been grovelling under the track in semi dark.

Hopefully the lack of an automated lap counter didn't spoil anyones fun - hopefully my lap counting and Roger's race commentary got around the problem.
