Here is a video of PRO-X ghostcars in action. Two of the ghostcars are on "fast" and the other is on "medium". Rear magnet has been removed from all cars.
I would highly recommend Carrera Digital to those who enjoy racing by themselves and/or who like to set up modelling demos. The abilty of the cars to run and switch lanes themselves is highly desirable.
Sometimes ghostcars will collide. If a rear-end collision occurs, this does not cause a deslot, however, if a ghostcar shifts into the side of another car, this may force one or both off the track. Surprisingly, 3 cars can run for an extended period without mishap. (I currently only have 3 cars and will test more later) Most of the time the faster car will successfully pass the slower traffic.
THe ghostcars on fast setting are not that much slower than a human driven car in the turns and lose most ground in the faster areas. Human driver completes course about 2s faster per lap than ghostcars, which means passes do not occur that frequently. I would guess that with equally matched human opponents there will be infrequent passing. Maybe on the order of once every 20 laps??
Against two ghostcars, the majority of the time is still spent "racing the course" and only when another car appears do you need to plan a pass. If rules of ettiquette are followed, it may not be that differnt from traditional slot racing if the layout is longer.
