Hi ALL,
I have been looking for an afx track set for my kids(that`s what I`m telling the wife anyway) this is proving to be a very fruitless search---i:e only avliable in usa and cost makes this an option I have no choice in!
I have seen a very nice micro scalextric set on e bay ( a super endurance set) the main reason for looking at afx was the sets were a lot better than micro ones but this endurance set looks nice.
We have life like and tommy turbo cars as micro ones are too slow will the track handle thesse?
Any advice is much appreciated many thanks Mike

Hi Mike,

Excellent news. Good luck with it. There are sources of track out there. Are you aiming for a permanent/semi permanent/fold away layout or just set it up for racing on the floor?

Cheers

Would it be an idea to have an HO track buy-and-sell facility at the club?

There are still cheap sets to be found at bootfairs and on eBay and it might be that we end up with boxes of track that we won't use, but could be added to other WHO racer's layouts.

Although most people will go for an AFX track, some of us may have Tyco or Micro-Scalextric layouts too.

Although Micro Scalextric only has the choice of 12" curves and the hairpin, it makes a better test track than none. I quite like Tyco track to race on at home - and that comes with 9" and 12" curves, plus 6" and 15" available from the States.

AFX has the most choice (hairpin, 6, 9, 12, 15 and 18" curves) and is what we use at WHO Racing. So - especially if you're buying new - this is the system to go with.

If you're looking for used track or have spare track you don't want, drop us an email at [email protected] or let us know at the race meetings and we can hopefully hook you up with others using the same track system as you. I guess the idea is keep prices as low as possible

If you want to upgrade the set controllers and even make the 3-pin driver stations we use at the club, let us know and we can send you details of how to do it.
