Hi Guys.
Ok Scorpius has been out in the wild now for 6 months. Seems the only hardware issues weere:
1)Dongle tuning could be optimised. We supplied a work around regardless.
2)Small number of car decioders had one component faulty, fixed.

Pretty remarkable effort and praise must go to John for producing a near pefect system on the very first release.

Also now we have the new RMS out and thats advancing daily. Very few bugs left by the reports were getting.

Ok so now the dust has cleared we are confident to proceed.

Please get your orders in asap as I wish to proceed immediately after Chinese New Year.

Hello Rick,

we hope Aurora is doing fine and you don´t have too much trouble.

One question to the webshop.

Our scorpius club membership discount is not valid anymore and is the australien tax of 10 % deducted if you send to europe?

Thanks for the Pit Lane Info in the other thread....

Rick,

I have order from 19th Dec 2011 (order number 129) this has all been paid for.

Hope you have not forgotten about this one I am eager to get up and running and have been waiting "patiently" for over 2 months.

Can you let us know when the orders will go through and when we can expect the shipment in.

Thanks

Sorry Grant, you should have your order in 8 weeks. The order has been placed with the new manufacturer in China, and am waiting on test samples. Good news is from now on it will be available in selected specialist slot shops as well.

It's been ordered from our new manufacturer. As the product gains popularity and we get better at all things associated with production, runs will become bigger and/or more frequent. Example this run is twice the size as the last one plus there is 2/3 of the run going via shops. Thanks for your patience. I'm hanging too as I've got limited car decoders and yer it's frustrating.

Cheers

The dongle has a different antenna length, all other components identical, subject to change until samples are analysed and tested.
There may be some twaeking of car decoder software.

Hi Dave,
Mixed results. Everything is going well except the car chip.
We have decided at the last minute to halt production of the car chip. Reason being some users on some tracks are getting missed laps.
The results are borderline with most users and my Scalextric test track performing fine.
However I have duplicated a Ninco test track a user is having issues with and I get the same problem. To give you an idea 500/500 laps on my Scalextric track and 490-498 on my Ninco test track. The problem is some spiking on the braid wires causing the PIC to reset. If it resets at the critical moment of reading the LED code or transmitting data then a missed lap will occur. The slot car track is a most unreliable form of constant clean power at speed.

Dave A. has introduced a clever software solution that figures out and adds missed laps using the RMS but I still want to nail this latest issue.

So we are removing lights, removing bi directional ability (3 big diodes being removed) to make room for a big capacitor (surface mounted) and some more filters. The PCB should be the same size.

So we are still in the process of redesigning the board. So the car chips will arrive around 8 weeks after the balance of the order. The LBs, controllers, dongles and WAMS samples will arrive in Oz in around ten days. So much work to go from 99% to 100% in terms of relisable laps, but thats development, fun but sometimes it can be challenging. The system is absolutely perfect in every other respect so once this is nailed Ill be very happy.
