I have recently bought 3 controllers from professor motor. The later one was a dual polarity controller so works fine at my club track but the other two are both negative polarity controllers and out club track is positive polarity. When I first hooked them up I had the problem that u have to push the controller full down to make the car moves. Now I know this is a problem with the polarity so I swopped the black and white wires over and the controllers then worked fine, only problem is there are no brakes!! Is there anyway I can get the brakes working without having to buy the polarity switch?? As I have now sold my home track and only use them on the club track.

Thank you for your time

Hi

diodes of this type (1kmf) only allow power to flow in one direction, thus your problem. His circuit board isn't set up for you to simply switch the wires and keep the brakes.

If you want the brakes back, put the wires back and then buy the PM dual polarity converstion switch for your controllers.

Hi James,
the problem is down to your club. all club tracks should be wired for negative brakes as from 1.1.03 this was decided by the BSCRA to ensure compatability throughout europe. drag your club kicking and screaming into the 21st century.

Hi James,

You've got to buy the polarity switch. Here's a
tutorial on how brakes work with some simple diagrams.
